Just wondering what you guys have found for a brighter clear DRL bulb?
I am using the 4114 in mine, but want something brighter.
Thought Piaa would have made something, but couldn't find anything on there sight.

As it stands, the 4114 or a 3157 run too hot, and this results in discoloration of the housing and melting of the bulb socket.

May I suggest that you wire your low beams to the DRLs and replace the DRL socket with a turn/ park and wire it to the adjacent turn/ park socket if it's a different look you're after.

I use a 3157NA (amber) for the DRLs on most of mine, which is a lower voltage (ie brighter, but shorter lived) bulb.

You can always go with LEDS, but make sure the lumens are good and high.

I swapped mine to really bright ambers. Stand out a bit more than the standard bulbs i think.

So far i have been lucky with the bulb life and no discolouring or melting.
Just unhappy with the really dull yellow light it puts out.
Anybody run the LED's for there DRL's?

it's been so long that i can't recall completely, but i bought some 3157NALL...LL for long life about 4 years or so ago and they are still going strong...the cheezy lenses will cloud up no matter what you run. are those LED's from super bright led .com from above any brighter??? can you tell a real difference...cuz i have always wanted a little brighter DRL myself...

Those white LED's look like they would be alot brighter.
Anyone ever tried any of Piaa's minature bulb's?I changed my headlights to
Piaa's and that made a hell of a difference.
Thought about trying some of their 3157 to see if they are brighter.

Any of those LED bulbs shown here will not be what your looking for. They only fire at 35* and are not radially mounted so it wont even fire of the reflector in your housings making it only bright as hell when you stand directly in front of it.

Talk to Mad Maxx on here (James) as he has used and tried alot of these in DRLs. Im thinking more along the lines of this (http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Parking-Light-LED/Amber-LED/V-LEDS-AMBER-92-M-SMT-p7470676-1-2.html) but it says not to use as DRL...thinking because most DRL's drop the voltage. Ask him he will tell ya.

Me personally....Id get rid of the damn things but thats me... dont start in on safety either cause if you cant see this big ass truck YOU SHOULDNT BE DRIVING

Yeah, I never really got how two little dinky lights are supposed to make a truck more visible in daylight.
