: New Mod.......Coming Soon.........
deejaaa 11-03-2009, 09:57 PM just received my new LED lights direct from the factory and i have to admit, i am impressed. they are the T20/7440 and 7443 bulbs, rated at 3 watts each. Wow, they will be bright. here are a few pics of them, straight out of the package. you will notice the one pictured is a dual wedge but i also have some single wedge ones. the quarter is real, they are some really big bulbs.

Citizen Z 11-04-2009, 12:46 AM Are those to replace the main headlights?
deejaaa 11-04-2009, 12:52 AM Are those to replace the main headlights?
no, not bright enough. they will replace front running and turn signals and if i can, i will swap them into the side grille marker lights and convert them to signal lamps.
Liftemhigh 11-04-2009, 08:15 AM deejaaa keep us posted and do you know how much they will cost. cause i'am sure it will be double the price for us over here in Canada
maddogg10mm 11-04-2009, 09:49 AM Where did you get them? Keep us posted I want to see the final results. Where did you get them? Keep us posted I want to see the final results. I bet they will look real good. :D

i ordered them straight from china. 10 of them cost $39.00 sample cost, cost $45.00 to wire it to china and UPS charged $77.00 to ship. comes to $161.00 at $16.00 each. sounds expensive at 1st but the only thing that could come close was a set rated at 2 watts and they were $15.00 each plus shipping. they fit, w/ a little pressure, right into the tail w/ the T20 base. the three bulbs are backup(single post), tail(single post), and tail/turn(double post). it would cost $45.00 each tail assembly to replace each bulb but they will be brighter, last longer and consume less amps than the standard bulbs. the price will be less the more that is ordered because the shipping/transfer/price per unit shouldn't change that much.
here is a pic of a double in a tail/stop post.

i already have my tails converted to a diff type of LED but now i might change them to these instead. much easier plug and play this way.
trapp2012 11-04-2009, 04:14 PM When every you can post up a video of them on the tube or what ever. I am really interested in seeing them. And no that really does not seem all that expensive they came all the way from China. Not a bad price from coming from half way cross' teh world.

The cheapest things you can buy in America almost all say
"made in China", so that's not really accurate - but for a small,
one-off order, not too bad
deejaaa 11-04-2009, 06:45 PM although they fit the sockets on the rear tails, the circuit board wiring setup is not compatible. could only get the top marker(single circuit) light to work(it looked real bright even in the daylight) as much as i tried. i even bent the prongs on the double circuit bulb and no dice. looks like it will be a custom setup. getting a fix on some double/single T20 sockets. if you know of any out there LMK. as far as i know they might be available at the FLAPS but i haven't had a chance to look.
WhiteK2500 11-04-2009, 06:50 PM Only 10 bulbs? And it cost 160$ american??? Ouch.
My order from SuperbrightLEDS.com consisted of 11 bulbs 6 blue 4 led head bulbs for the dash, 2 amber 12 head bulbs for the outboard turn signals up front (That didn't fit in the housing to lock, too long, I forgot to add the height of the socket protrusion, from the depth of the lens... But I used anyway), 2 cool white "loom" style 10 led map lights, and one cool white festoon 6 led bulb for the main interior cab light and it only cost me 80$ american and another 20$ for shipping, even managed to avoid having to deal with UPS.

should of used a Loonie!
the 'drop in bulbs' are easy to use i will give you that but from my experience w/ working w/ them, they just aren't as bright as i want. each one of these are 3 watts. i will have to spend a lot of time fabbing them up i know but when it doesn't work right i can only blame myself.
read this article, it's real interesting: "lumens is actually the unit for luminous flux, while brightness is measured in nit or cd/m2 and takes into account the emitting area."
http://www.ledsmagazine.com/news/5/2/27
would love to hook a few of them up in the map light!
and watch this video, now that's bright! http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-an-extremely-bright-super-led-flashlight-265086/
the world of LED's is just beginning. i don't feel that the aftermarket is even in the 2nd generation of LED's. the latest LED has some cool features: they can even operate on AC power without additional conversion. i have seen some real c$#p out there that they want you to buy. there's even a 7" round LED headlight on the market now but too pricey for me.
GetSome8.1HD 11-04-2009, 07:38 PM You want good bulbs you have to pay some coin. Try this place (http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/32481/user/velocity). You want bulbs that fire radially so it gets light into the reflecting part also. MOST LED's are 30*-40* viewing angle allowing them to have the output of what they are.... ~2000 mcd (millicandela). Thats bright but there is brighter as you goto 15* such as in 5500 in a blue.
All of this is why you need something that fires from all sides to get the desired output you want and just not bright when your looking at em straight on.
deejaaa 11-14-2009, 06:55 PM waiting for the sockets to get here. was in phoenix on Thurs.
jeeprocks86 11-14-2009, 07:02 PM what about the flasher? Will these draw enough power so that you won't get a fast flash?
I know on my jeep, I had to put a different flasher on because I was getting the a fast flash when I converted to LED's

I have that issue with mine, thinks a bulb is out so it's a fast flasher... if anything it gets peoples attention better Lol
It goes to normal when I hook up to a trailer though :D
edzzed 11-14-2009, 09:16 PM I put led tail lights on my truck in place of the stock units. I also installed something of a lightbar above the rear bumper with superflux led's it is an aluminum bar with holes. here is a link to them only mine are red. http://www.princessauto.com/truck-trailer/electrical/trailer-lighting/8182099-mini-clearance/marker-light I could have paid extra and got red with clear lenses. all total there are 15 units. 3 for the center 5 each on the left and right. when I turn the headlights on the 3 in the middle plus the outside come on. the remaining 4 on each side are brake / turn signal lights. They are so bright at night when I hit the brakes. Even with all the LED lights my flasher flashes very fast. I suppose I could put a resistor in there to slow them down. and the picture is not accurate. I installed more since it was taken. Ed http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p242/edzzed/truck007.jpg
deejaaa 11-14-2009, 11:36 PM what about the flasher? Will these draw enough power so that you won't get a fast flash?
it has hyper flash right now. only have LED's on the rear. when i get the front changed out, i have an LED flasher that i will use. tried it w/ the front still w/ filament bulbs and they didn't even work so i will see.
got the sockets in today and they look like they will work. will try to get at it Tue or Wed when i'm off.
GetSome8.1HD 11-16-2009, 04:23 PM If it flashes to fast its cause the LEDs didnt come with load resistors built in. This will solve your problems http://www.v-leds.com/BlinkerWarning-Fix/Electronic-Flashers/GM-ELECTRONIC-LED-FLASHER-p5189343-1-3.html

thanx for the link, i have one already, just need to finish putting it all together.
deejaaa 11-16-2009, 10:48 PM here's a pic w/ the socket. looks like i will only need to cement a small piece where the original socket went, drill and mount.
http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/deejaaa/DSC00002.jpg
deejaaa 11-17-2009, 09:19 PM here's what i did:
original, http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/deejaaa/DSC00002-2.jpg
cut a piece of flat plastic, cemented it to the original socket hole, drilled, slotted for the new sockets, http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/deejaaa/DSC00005-2.jpg
mounted, http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/deejaaa/DSC00011-1.jpg
finished, http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/deejaaa/DSC00007.jpg
now just need to cut, splice, weather proof, mount and enjoy.
video and pics of finished mod soon to follow........
GetSome8.1HD 11-18-2009, 11:15 AM Refresh my memory why you couldnt use regular sockets?
deejaaa 11-18-2009, 01:11 PM ..................why you couldnt use regular sockets?
reg sockets on the front have the bayonet base, these are T20 wedge style. there are some wedge T20 at the taillights but wiring is diff so they would have to be converted also.

the pass side is LED, driver side is filament and there is only one bulb in there that was working. even still they look factory and are way much more cleaner and crisper. put the single circuit for reverse lights on the tails and they are nice looking.
bigbraunboy 12-10-2009, 07:02 AM nice bud good job on the lights :D
