Hows it going, my first post here. I have a 1994 7.3L IDI turbo, I just bought it used, it has 225k km's on it. 4x4,ext cab, rebuilt tranny. Now of course I want more power !! I hear the 94 IDI factory turbo pretty much matched the 94 powerstroke. I can turn the delivery screw in the fuel pump up how much safely, and with what other mods ? I was thinking about doing the air intake, turbo down pipe, muffler delete, and turning it up 1/2 turn on the pump.

I heard about a guy who had one done up a fair bit and turned up 1 1/4 turn above stock, and was beating new powerstroke and dmaxes, but had gone through a few engines over the last couple years, like 4 or something, lol. I'm looking to maintain some sane reliability here, until I overhaul the engine and do the internal mods to support that kind of power.

Anyone have one of these, or know what has been done, and what can be done to these things in the way of power mods, short of replacing turbo, injectors etc... That can come down the road when I get further into it. So any suggestions to start with ?? lets :grd:

Welcome to The Diesel Place, I have a 95 F350 powerstroke but haven't done anything to it as far as power upgrades. The only thing I've done is strait piped it. Didn't even do it on purpose, the exhaust system from the cat back just sorta fell off one day. Noticed a power increase right away. Not much, but was definetly noticable. Sounds awesome too. Best of luck with the Ford,

You want to start out with only an 1/8 of a turn you can overfuel this pump real fast and the only thing you will get is very poor fuel econ. Timing is where most of the power loss problems with the idi 7.3l are at and it needs to be set right with a timetrack. This tool was made for seting the timing on all stanitdine injection pumps.A will equiped fuel shop or a Ford dealer that did a lot of diesel work should have that tool and someone who knows how to use it. Timing is 8 dre. at 2000 rpms
