The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as a big block chevy. The engine mount locations are drastically differnet. Tuning will be your biggest obstacle to overcome with an airboat as the propeller will place a constant load on the engine at all times whereas the load is constantly changing in a truck. It's defiantely doable, just make sure that whatever you are willing to spend on it that you are willing to spend double as that is most likely what it will cost you when it's done.

Thanks for the info guys! I gave Tony a call and he was alot of help. Now I just got to make up my mind if I want to go the route. The trouth is i am tired of working on my bb chevy. I am running a merlin 540 block makeing allmost 700 hp. As you know with hot rod engines there is allways something going wrong. I was thinking with a duramax it would be more dependable.

Look in my garage for pics of the motor and airboat. The raw torque is fun. :D
I tuned one last night with a stock LLY motor. It was pretty neat!

The boat in the video was built for a road contractor here in Ocala,Fl. Rumored to be roughly 500+ HP
edit: The airboat company is in Ocala

edit: The airboat company is in OcalaThat motor set up makes 850 RWHP in a pickup real easy. and just changing the charger could add another 75 RWHP. So i would say heavy on the + :D And i should add, with proper tuning!
I'm helping a guy with this one. Here it is on the maiden voyage. We are starting with a stock LLY motor and going up from there to document the changes needed as we add power. The next step is a charger upgrade for the stock motor.
