Being that I live in the northeast winter salt after 11 years have been a bit hard on the brake line of my chevy 98 2WD dually. This winter I plan on replacing all of the brake lines both the steel hard lines and the rubber flex lines.
Question 1: After much hunting around it appears that nobody makes braided flex lines for these 1 ton trucks. Earles makes a DOT flex line however only for the 1500 and 2500 trucks. Not the 3500 trucks. Is there a MFG that makes these DOT approved flex lines or am I stuck getting ruber OEM replacements? Is there a prefered brand of OEM replacement flex lines?
Question 2: What size are the brake line fittings that go out of the ABS block to the front and rear brakes. Are these fittings metric? Also are the brake lines metric? I can't really measure them because the lines are all rusted and flaking so I would achieve and accurate measurement.
I did some part number searching on NAPA's website and it appears that all the flex lines, wheel cylinder and master cylinder are typical standard inverted flares.
I'd like to have all of my ducks in a row prior to ripping everyting out.
