I have noticed a rattle coming from my front pass side. Jacked it up and checked for play in wheel bearing and everything seemed good. Everything is lubed and all the ball joints look good. So I took me front pass side tire off and the rotor loose. I didn't take the caliper off but i could move the rotor fairly easily. Is this normal for the rotor to be so loose? I guess when the wheel is on and tourqued it presses the rotor in so it doesnt move. Just thought it was alittle strange it was so loose when wheel was removed is this normal?

Have you checked to see if the exhaust was rubbing or able to swing to hit anything. just my cause with mine. But your sound may differ. No idea on the wheel bearing.

I have also been having a rattling on the passenger side, removed the rubber inner fender, and found it to be the bracket that holds the turbo downpipe to the exhaust manifold was cracked in two pieces and was rubbing on the heat shield. That happened to be my problem, maybe something extra to check.

What that means is that your slide hardware is frozen/ binding on the caliper assy, giving you a brake pad rattle. While the rotor does just float, the caliper should give enough "hold" that you wouldn't have the rotor moving about.

Thanks for the replies. So what is involved in fixing the slide hardware?
