I just recently bought a 05 gmc 2500HD 6.6L Duramax Diesel. Only have 374 miles on it and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the break in process, what oil to use before running synthetic, additives etc..

Things I have done to the truck:
-8inch suspension lift
-37inch tires
-Superchips power programmer

The rest of the truck is stock except for all of the bells and whistles in the suspension... suggestions are very much appreciated thx.

Should probably repost this thread here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40here, as this one will probably be closed.

I would think that installing 37 inch tires and the use of a programmer from the beginning is not the best way to break the truck in but thats just me....

I usually drive non-stop across the country and back to seat the bearings. :D

As has been said before, drive it like you stole it. But that was stock.:ro)

I break them in like I am going to drive them. Never had a problem.

Everyone has their own ideas. If you don't have a theory of your own then you are probably best to follow the manufacturers recommendations.

I put 100 miles on then drove a 2300 mile round trip with a 28' trailer and bed full, ( about 18000 ) it ran good and pulled strong. I bought it to pull and that's what I will do.
