No expert on diesels or electrical but try trailer on a friends truck or neighbors vehicle and go from there. My .02¢ Good Luck.

Do a search for "Service Trailer Brake" and you'll find a few threads that may be of help to you. Good luck!!

I have a 2009 3500 Dually and I have towed my fifth wheel with no problems. I have a trailer connector installed in the bed as well. That way I don't have to drop the harness for the trailer over the tailgate. I have connected the power cable under the hood to charge the batteries when towing. No warning lights and no problems. Sounds like a short someplace to me. You might want to use a meter or test lamp and make sure two of your wires are not crossed up somehow.

I had the same problem when pulling my 5th wheel trailer. I have a 2008 3500 4x4 CC LB Dulley LTZ. I took the truck to a gm shop and they replaced the pressure switch that is located on the right side of the brake master cylinder. That fixed the problem, you might have that checked. Good luck

Does your trailer have electric over hydraulic brakes? If so the IBC is looking for the magnets and not finding them.

Have the same problem some times. One time the plug had a little dirt in it. the other time the trailer had a break malfunction that nobody knew about. I do know that on the LMM the plug on the bumper is to far away for most older trailer, and the trailer wires become pulled, so they need to be lengthened.

Make sure the plug is wired correctly for your truck. I found this out when I re-wired a new plug end on to a utility trailer we pull. I wired it the "old" way and found out that Chevy doesn't use the old color code system anymore.
Look on the lid of the plug socket and then take your plug apart to make sure it is wired correctly.

I blew a fuse in the box under the hood and it caused the DIC to read "service trailer brake system" even when the trailer was unhooked. The dealer changed it out so I do not know which one it was but he told me it was one of the 30 amp fuses.

We burned up a ground on the truck to cause this message. Check the grounds on both the truck and trailer. The other lights being on indicate more than just the trailer brake circuit having issues?

You may want to hook up to another trailer to prove it is the truck and find another dealer. Call GM customer care and demand that a local GM rep help you solve this.

I had the prob a couple times, usually plug wasnt seated, I had to hold th back of the truck connector and push the plug like crazy to get a full seat, but fixed it.
