I'd take out the front tow hooks, get some 2" inside square tubing and some 2" outside square tubing. Bolt the bigger tube where the tow hooks were at, then put the smaller tube inside of it, drill the holes to pin it (basically like a receiver hitch on the back of the truck) Then weld a 3/8-1/2"X6" plate to that tubing. Make sense? That's how I planned on doing mine until I weighed it yesterday and decided I don't need to add anymore weight to it, (8900#'s  )

i used 3" square tubing, using the holes under there to bolt it down. came out a little bit and went straight up with 2.5" square tubing. i use john deere weights, so mine is a little different up top. it slides out a little hard right now, just need some more grinding in the right spots and it should just slip right out.

How much weight is the most you have to hang to keep the cv angle close? Truck weighs 9040 with half a tank, but the nose is way high. I'm making the bar this weekend but don't no how wide (standard 2" center reciever in bumper) + making rubber blocks to stop the rear from going down so much, will that help much?...T

Why does your truck weigh 9040#s?

Do you drop your torsion bars?

Yes, rubber blocks will help to pull better, but it may lift your front end even worse.

The amount of weight you can use depends on the weight class. That seems really heavy. My truck was around 6000 pounds before I put the bigger tires on

My truck weighed 8900 with some weight added, full tank, tool box and all. It'll be tough getting it down for an 8000 class but it can be done. I can't figure out how a 2500 CC/SB weighs more than my 3500 CC/LB Dually!?!?

Check the sig and add up the weight. Just the custom bumpers weigh 600+. Add fuel tank, 40gln. propane tank, nitrous stuff and extra pumps and 3 amps and 2 subs and................ ;-) T

I just read your sig five times. It doesn't say anything about the fuel tanks, propane, nitrous etc, etc. If it does, is it in code?

Back to your original question: if you weigh 9040#'s why on earth do you want to add weight? Most pulls are 8000 or 8500# classes.

Opps, my bad. I re-read again and found the DZ40 bed tank, but not the other stuff.

Sorry bout that. The other half of the sig was put in storage til GM replaces my injectors on Wednesday. I'll reload it the end of the week. As for weight, weight hanging and transfer, etc., that's why I asked. I'm clueless except for watchin some buds tractor pull. I pulled once last year at the Cambridge Pulloff for the first time (before heavy mods) with the only full pull of the day, but in watchin the video saw that everyone else has weights, blocks, traction bars, straps, etc., and I know nothin about any of that. I just had (have) a **** load of power and my nose pointed straight up in the air when I spooled up. Just tryin to figure it all out by next weekend. I'd like to either full pull or first place every time I run, and not breakin stuff and doin it right would play a big part in that. I'm goin to Borders this afternoon to buy a book on it, but anecdotal from the guys here seems more logical and much easier...T

First: I didn't know there was a book about pulling. When was it published? If it's too old it might not help at all. Alot of stuff has changed in the last 10 years. Ask any puller.

If you all ready weigh 9k, worry about getting the front down by dropping your torsion bars, and sleeve your tie rods.

Don't ever think you'll be first place all the time. Stuff happens to where you break or don't have a good run and you never know who is going to show up at the pulls that has more $ or knowledge or luck than you.

I heard Cambridge is having a pull coming up, got any info on it?

Saturday 6/11 at the East side track. Don't yet know what time it starts and don't have the rules for this year, as they changed the whole diesel class around after my pull pissed too many people off with a daily driver. If I can't get hold of Moody this week, I'll catch Scott on Thursday for the low down. It's not too far from you, come on down. BTW, I am sleeved and linked and T barred and.........T

Sure, let us know. Especially starting time, and rules if possible. We wanted to come down last year but we couldn't find any info so we didn't come.

OK, all the info I could get is weigh-in at 9:00 a.m, pulls all day til everyones sick of it, and now it's stock diesel, modified diesel, and open modified (pot luck, whatever that is) for us guys. Max hitch height is 26", but no one can tell me where us 4X4's want to be. I haven't even got my 3" clevis yet. Tomorrow will be busy...T
