I have about 7 to 8 k miles on my tires. My fronts are still in great shape, but my rears are not holding up. I have Firestone 265/75/16's. They are the 8 ply heavy duty . I pull a 5er and a fishing boat. I don't drive it hard and my tires are about ready to be replaced.
I'm wondering if anyone else is having this same problem? What tire would you recomend that would hold up better? Or, is this just the way it is?
My tire dealer tells me that this is a common problem with diesels. He told me that he just keeps changing out his rears......... nice for him, he gets a discount.

I just got a set of Goodyear wrangler slient armour seem to be good for the 30k I've had them should get 100k out of them. But I haven't driven in winter yet, never liked Goodyears in the winter. Michelin has always been a good tire, just don't be cheep whatever you decide.

Wow, 30k outta those is amazing, I'm lucky for 10k-12k. I just keep takin them back and getting a new set every year since they have a 50k warranty!

i actually doesnt depend how many miles you have on your truck mile meter. its how you have drove the truck at times. you can also change only rear ones. look for the grip instead

I talked to my tire dealer about warrenty on my tires. He told me that there is not a warrenty for comercial grade tires that are on a truck, especially on a diesel. It sucks, but I guess thats just the way it is. His suggestion was either to rotate every 3k or just keep replacing the rears.

X2 w/ Lotsofmiles:
Michelin LTX M/S. Regrdless of size. Absolutely phenomenal tire..pricey, but you get what you pay for. I have a set on PYO stock Alu rims for summer hwy cruising. I put about 25k on this spring/summer/fall. They barely look driven. 265's

Like your tire delear said, most LT tires do not carry a milage warranty. The 265/75-16 Nitto Dura Grappler uses Dura-Belt Technology so it actually comes with a 45K mile tread life warranty.

I don't think it is just you. I bought my truck new one year ago this month. 08 crew cab 2500 short bed z-71 4x4 and with only 16,500 miles my stock Bridgestone M773 tires are shot. I have never had a truck eat tires like the rear of this diesel. I am thinking of going with the cooper discoverer s/t in 255/85/16 after I get the truck leveled.

I loved my BFG Commercial T/A Tractions! Lasted for 40K all traveled in a year and a half and most of the miles hauling a GN horse trailer with one to two horses. It was on a DRW, but they were the best tires for hauling and still have traction!
