I noticed that my Duramax was sounding a little louder than normal with the usual diesel chatter!! I checked under the hood and noticed the tensioner was jumping all over the place. I picked up a new one at the dealer ($125.99) and installed it. It only takes about 10 minutes and solved the chatter!!! Having the tensioner let go can cause some problems under the hood!! Check that belt tensioner guys and gals!!!

Mine have had more problems with the idler pulleys. The last two I did, used two idler pulleys, and AFAIK, they are a dealer item.
When goin' in after the tensioner, it would be wise to spin both idlers while the belt is off to check them.
Advance Auto has the Dayco brand tensioner for $64.49, and it's is just as good as the OEM. Napa has it for $93.49 list, also.

Actually, I had the truck at the dealer on Saturday just visiting a few friends who work there. We checked the tensioner as well as the other idler pulleys and they were fine. I did not think to check aftermarket for the tensioner!!
