I couldn't find an answer to this in a search so I'll have to ask your advice. I'm looking at getting a 95 Suburban (1500 model) with a 6.5 diesel in it. What would be the towing capacity? I have a V nose enclosed trailer which weighs 6000 pounds loaded. Wouldn't be doing a lot of towing but would end up doing the odd 400 mile trip.

That's a 1/2 ton platform and pretty much a lightweight for towing. 6k lbs should be within its specs though. Do you know the rear end ratio? Likely a 3:73 given its a half ton model with a 6.5 .

Here's a link to Edmunds website with the specs on that model year. 6500lb towing capacity regardless of whether it is the 5.7 or 6.5 IMHO.

Hope this helps. JJ :)

On a note about your truck you might want to also check the weight rating on your hitch. Some came with 4000 lbs and 5000 lbs with wieght distribution to 10,000 lbs
