Whats the correct way to bleed the coolant system, start the motor and crack the bleding screw on top till it comes out or should I pore the coolant down the top coolant hose. Just replaced the head gaskets and fill it threw the resovour tank and had the bleeder screw open a little while I did it but no coolant spilled out. Put 4 gallons in and took it for a test drive and it started to over heat open the hood to find that the top hose wasnt even hot or filled with coolant but on the bottom of the thermostat when I took a part in was really hot seems like its not passing threw the new thermostat is it air bound help me understand plz someone

when I changed my t-stats and removed the rad to clean up the crud, I filled the coolant reservoir up and used something similar to a turkey baster to fill the bleed screw. never had any issues. with yours, my GUESS is you have an airlock in the coolant either at or near the t-stats. Ed

i think the cooling system is just under 7 gallons if its totally empty. Less if the block still has water in it. All i did was open the bleeder screw and fill it up until water came out the bleeder screw. Closed the screw and that was it.

With engine cold, open bleed screw and fill reservoir until a steady stream is coming out the bleed screw. Close bleed screw and fill reservoir to cold mark. Crank engine with reservoir cap off and bring up to temp adding coolant to reservoir tank when/if necessary.

Wait a minute...be right back...

Here ya go!
