Symptons:
1. Stalls upon take off
2. Tach goes wild
3. Batery light comes on and off
4. Big puff of black smoke from exhaust
5. I swear I heard a back fire

This has been happening for 2 weeks now.
Of course I can not duplicate probelm when I go to the dealer!

WHat I have done so far to fix the problem to no avail.
1. Nothing for the first week
2. Unplugged the juice last night

So far in 2 weeks(700 miles) the above symptons have happened a total of 5 times!
Truck in question is the 2001

Update:
I took the edge off 6 days ago and have been waiting for the symptons to return.
Well finnally they did!
Truck was idling in my lot for half hour. Then I heard it idle rough ( I was behind the truck messing with the trailer).
When I got in the truck to take off it stalled.
I started it up and put it in gear and it surged and died again.
Started right up and then I drove off.

Changeing the fuel filter now. Was wondering if I should get a fuel sample and send it for testing(where do I send it).
Also, should I drain the fuel tank and start with new fresh fuel?

Remember the edge has been disconnected for a week so its prolly not the edge causeing problems.

Going to rough idle is usually a fuel delivery issue, could be on the the low pressure or high pressure side. Could even be an electricle connection problem.

How is your air filter?

Air filter is new...

SO I put in the new fuel filter today and drove the truck....Same thing happens again.
Truck stalls 3 times in a row.

I went and filled the truck up at the Local Petro All AMerican Truck stop and put in the 911 Diesel additive. Enough to treat like 100 gallons.... Just gotta wait and see...
I kept some of the old fuel out of the old filter...not sure how to see if its bad or contiminated??

You could also be getting air in the lines somewhere.
