Today I removed the intake manifold to replace rubber fuel lines and remove the PMD. While I was at it I removed the fuel filter housing and gave it a good cleaning. I also did the upper intake mod to the plenum. I noticed a lot of carbon build up in the intake ports of the heads. It wasn't hard, it was soft and oily. I scraped it up and vacuumed it out. They were really growing closed. I remote mounted the PMD to the front bumper by the cooling opening. The old intake gaskets had the EGR port block offs in them so I tookthem out of the old gaskets and put them in the new gaskets.
I hope I'll notice some kind of difference after all of this work. If not ...at least some things got done that needed to be done.:)

When I pulled the intake off of my 95 k2500LD "S" it was close to plugged. The openings were smaller than a pencil. I believe it was run a long time without the mystery gasket that seals the egr valve port in the intake. It was getting exhaust in the intake all the time. I got rid of the restrictive "S" intake and replaced it with a "F"intake.
I had to change the solution in my parts washer after cleaning the heads. That was the blackest gunk I've ever seen.

did you notice a difference switching to the F intake? I have the same thing going on and about to replace it.

Its all a combination of The EGR/failed gasket, oil pull over trough the CDR and running with a dirty/leaking air filter. was the reason for me to get rid of the first two,and keeping the last one clean and sealed.

Well after driving my truck...I think it actually has a little more power. It doesn't lose speed like before. I also forgot to mention, the truck had a slow disappearance of coolant. I think I found it after removing the intake. there was a little anti-freeze on top of the head right behind the drivers side of the thermostat manifold. I removed it and found the gaskets on both heads were deteriorated badly. Hopefully this fixed the elusive anti-freeze hunt!:)

I haven't driven it much since I put the engine back in but it definitly has more power. The "f"intake wasn't the only mod and maintaince done. New injectors ,New timing set, K47 air cleaner and ARP head studs.

I didn't really feel much difference in power when I switched to the F intake. There were to many variables changed between my two dyno runs to tell what did what...

But I may sound crazy (some say I am...) but my exhaust tone changed a little bit when I installed the F intake. With my stacks... the F intake made a deeper sound at the lower rpms at lower speeds. I've heard it sounds somewhat like a 12 valve Cummins out the stacks now, but the 6.5 rattle up front lol. That is until i get on it... then it just sounds like.... Well.... a 6.5 i guess lol.
