To make a long story short, has anyone had a problem with thier fuel pump disintegrating on them?
While driving my '01 (94,500 miles) I stopped at a stop sign, smelled diesel and went from a 1/2 a tank to E in the matter of 2 minutes with it all coming out the bottom of the truck. Towed it to the dealership and the fuel pump they said totally disintergrated inside?
Thanks,
H

Sorry to hear about this but I have not seen any posts about this type of failure. You might consider doing a search of the forum.

I have a friend that lost his. It cracked wide open but he made it to the dealer. I was out of town and didn't get to see it before they shipped it out. That is the only one my local dealer has seen. Later! Frank

I have a 2002 that the return side of the fuel pump went bad. Fuel everywhere! Truck was still under warranty with less than 30K on it. Took two and half weeks to get it fixed. No problems since. Lots of luck.

Had the same thing happen to me. I have an 02 and at about 35000mi, the fuel pump did just as you discribed. Smelled diesel, 15mi down the road, it quit. Had it towed in and the dealer found the pump had disintegrated. Dealer said they had never seen anything like it. Repaired under warrenty, and been fine since.
