: Single mass flywheel & Clutch
IBDMAX'IN 05-26-2005, 07:19 PM Hey guys,
How many guys here, if Super Diesel Performance had a single and dual disk clutch available with a single mass flywheel would be interested in purchasing one??? Prices for a double disk clutch would be about $2,000-$2,200 that would include the flywheel, I don't have exact figures on the singles. Just trying to get a tally of how many guys need these things before we go investing a whole bunch of money in them.
Let me know via post, PM, or my cell# 303-931-0674
Cheers, Wade
duramaxedout 05-26-2005, 08:02 PM John, Super and I have talked about this ad nausea and they know I am definately in need of the flywheel and might as well pull out my "burnt as toast" clutch plates while I'm at it. My issue is the $$ to do it, so it would be the single for me. Too many hard launches in 2nd!
Ben46a 05-26-2005, 08:32 PM Id for sure spring for a single, but depending on my mood at the time a dual disc May be the way to go.
jjgmc 05-28-2005, 11:52 PM I would be intrested in this set-up
nick04duramax 05-29-2005, 12:59 AM I know of a couple people in Ky that would probably be inerested in the single
IBDMAX'IN 05-29-2005, 03:51 PM Well it's good to hear there is some interest in getting these things done. We are currently looking into having some "Test Kits" made and should have some good news within the next 60 days. Mean while you can keep posting what type of clutch kits most interest you so we can better service the needs of everyone.
Cheers, Wade
jon72 05-30-2005, 05:40 AM I would try a single disc/SMF setup.I know other guys are trying to put these kits together but I would rather buy from someone who will be around for awhile.
DmaxCC6spd 05-30-2005, 10:09 AM I too am looking for a solid replacement from a reliable business. I want smooth engagement and extra holding power for my TST box. I plan to do frequent towing in the 10,000 lb range. I am guessing single disk for me.
01Duramax6spd 05-30-2005, 09:51 PM Defintely need more holding pressure.I was running it hard and trying to race this past weekend but the clutch was not letting me and the flywheel wasn't doing to bad untill my buddy missed 2nd and dumped the clutch in 4th,The grinding was enough to make me cringe.
MaxRock 05-31-2005, 04:37 PM I would like a SMF with probably a single disk clutch. The setup would need to hold the LB7 with a VA 0-70-110 HP box and pulling a 10.5k 5er.
Any idea of the price for this setup???
Thanks,
MaxRock

A single disk with the SMF would more than hold the 110hp of the VA Box. As far as the price, the only thing I know so far is it's going to cost somewhere between $1000-$1500 for everything including the flywheel. I'll keep you all posted on the progress of this.
MaxRock 05-31-2005, 07:11 PM Good deal...thank you for the info!!!

kkhamil23 05-31-2005, 09:58 PM What are the possiblilites that this will work with Craig's setup? If it is a possibility you can count me in on some things. If not, well if nothing ever changes, well I guess I will be buying a setup from you all. Thanks and please keep us posted.

reera 06-01-2005, 12:33 PM Single disk clutch/SMF would be great! Also a reliable source to get it from. Keep us informed. :ro) :cool2:

Any Idea when you will have these things avalable?? I as well as others are in bad need and I would rather put one SMF than the DMF and then have it go out in a little while.Censored I already have the DMF boughten but I can always return it if you will be up and going in a short time.
duramaxedout 06-03-2005, 05:30 PM We are working on the prototypes for the SMF, hopefully one will be going in my truck in the next month for testing. Unfortunately, since this is a scratch start effort it is going to take some time. When the SMF get's complete you can count on it being a quality piece backed up by SD's quality reputation! !!
01Duramax6spd 06-03-2005, 11:52 PM These will hold up to an Edge Juice and a 20k trailer right? I'm good for a while as long as I don't race.I need a chip bad though.

I will know the question to your answer as soon as we get our first test clutch done, then we'll do some testing before we release what it's capable of.
Gray Max 06-07-2005, 10:16 PM Keep us informed. I may know a good midwest installer.

:ro)
I heard you also make some wicked traction bars!!!! I would love to recommend you to install the clutches for all the guys out your way, seeing as you probably have the most experience!!! :)
I'll keep everyone informed as the project begins to take form and we can get some real world testing done on the kits.
Thanks Gray Max!!!
Gray Max 06-09-2005, 04:07 PM OSUDuramax and I had talked some about working on clutches, but we really don't have time right now to devote to testing. I'm sure there would be a good market for clutches. I like the ally, but it's no 6 speed.
coalbucket1 06-09-2005, 04:43 PM Wade send one here and I will test it with a 500 hp stack daily driver.):h

Stack. Tuner and a box stacked together. If you notice the "stacks" are not the same ones, they are on a 1st gen. Dodge now.

I'm hoping it will be as good if not better that what is out there now, although this is only talk and speculation untill we have them in our hands and can test them with some big power.
And we are working on a couple of single setups aswell as a double disk puller clutch.
Thanks for your interest. I'm hoping for big things just like you!!! :ro)
Take care, Wade
chevy_9465 06-13-2005, 07:03 PM I'd be very interrested the later part of the year
MaxRock 06-30-2005, 03:06 PM 1BDMAX'IN,
Any new update on the SMF and clutch set up??? Enquiring minds want to know!!!!
MaxRock
IBDMAX'IN 06-30-2005, 05:42 PM Well we're still working on getting our test kits out to us, as many of you already know that we can only work as fast as our suppliers can produce the product. At this current point in time we are waiting for our supplier to complete the first kit for testing. We were hoping for a little sooner timeframe but we have to work with what we've got. There will be more than $30,000 invested in this project to get the kits on the shelf. I am hoping that the kits will be more than you guys could have ever asked for, but theses things take a little time, so please bare with us on this endevor as it will be worth the wait.
Thanks again for your patience on this matter, please post if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to the clutch kits, I'll be more than happy to help out in anyway I can.
Cheers, Wade
MaxRock 06-30-2005, 08:15 PM IBDMAX'IN,
Thanks for the info. I was just curious to what the lated intel was. No hurry yet...even though I think I slipped my clutch playing with the 110 HP setting on the VA. I'll leave that setting alone until I get the new clutch, SMF installed.

duramaxedout 07-01-2005, 12:45 PM IS IT DONE YET..................IS IT DONE YET........I learned that from my daughter. Well I might be on my 100th DMF when this thing gets done...kidding I know how much work you guys are putting into this thing, and it is definately worth the wait!!
Can't wait to be able to put some some big black clouds in the sky after we get this installed!!
01Duramax6spd 07-01-2005, 03:35 PM Duramaxedout: are you still working on one? Will you be an installer? I'm in NE and you would be fairly close.

Hi there Evan,
Just wanted to say congrats on your 46th post. Also wanted to say how slick your highjack was :thumb: , I guess starting your own thread must have been too much work :confuzeld , Oh well.
I am a little curious about something, if your carrying Craig's clutch kit can people expect the same service that they received from Craig??? after all your service and shipment times are only as good as your supplier, right  ??.
Not trying to start a fight with Crank it Up, I actually think that they are all really cool guys, just wondering why Evan is highjacking other vendors threads, after all that's not a very cool thing to do :nutkick: . Can't we all just get along!!
Cheers, Wade
P.S. I'll be starting a new thread soon with some really cool information to share with everyone, hopefully nobody will highjack that thread!!! ;)
partsguy662 07-05-2005, 03:55 PM Cool!! Now we can have ZF-6 wars just like the allison wars :D
IBDMAX'IN 07-05-2005, 04:08 PM Cool!! Now we can have ZF-6 wars just like the allison wars :D
Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition!! just as long as they start their own threads, all is well in diesel town.
At Super Diesel Performance we don't believe in technology repression, if another company offers something that improves the competition and the breed then it's a win/win situation for the customer. That's what we are most concerned with at Super Diesel, The Customer, not just the bottom line.
So by all means let the competition come forth and sell and advertise their products, it's what gave us the drive to help create a better clutch then what was already out there. Like I said before, this NEW clutch kit will be well worth the wait.
And in a short period of time all will be revealed about the clutch kits and I think you all will be extremely excited!!!
Thanks again for all your reply's, I'll continue to keep you updated on the status of our project.
Cheers, Wade
BigOL3 07-06-2005, 01:04 AM If my clutch and FW will hold up, I am going to wait as long as possible in hopes to get the best for the bucks!):h

Thanks alot Otis,
We appreciate the following that we've had with the members here. Look for a post later today by myself that will reveal what we've been up to for the last month or two. I think everyone will like what we have to say.
Stay tuned!!

OSUDuramax 07-08-2005, 11:32 PM Hi there WADE,
"Just a little Friendly competition!! " WADE.:)
Don't mean to step on any "Vendor's" toes. I looked through this thread and didn't see anyone with the vendor title. If you had a finish product and/or you had "Supporting Vendor" Under your name.. I wouldn't have posted in "your" thread WADE. The only thing telling me you are close to a vendor is “SUPER DIESEL "Power Posse"" in your sig. I thought that was just a club or somthing.
Sorry I'm low on posts..:offtopic:. This makes 47 then since your counting :thankyou2  is there nothing else to do up there "In the clouds" WADE?
We have inventory and the means to get more when we need it...
The whole reason I have taken this over is to improve the service and turn-around times...I don't 100% back Craig and what he has done but he has a good product.. And that I will support. I have used this product for 2 1/2 years and 40,000 + miles, and have been very satisfied with it so I have chosen to invest time and money in it.
I’m not repressing your R+D... I hope Superdiesel working with SouthBend can come up with a good product...
The "Win/win" for the customer is very important for us as well..
Sorry to INTRUDE...or..."Highjack"....and I would like to :Handshake stop the fight and work together if we can... I think we are both barking up the same tree....
NO sales pitches in you "new thread"..... :hail:
"all is well in diesel town."

:Handshake Sorry about the vendor confusion, got that fixed for ya. I didn't figure that anybody at Crank It Up would intentionally hijack a thread from another vendor, that's why I was a little confused when I saw your post.
I'm glad to hear that you have a inventory of Craig's clutch kits, that's actually wonderful news for all the ZF6 owners out there. The bottom line is that the product that Craig offered was never a bad product, nor was it ever implied that it was. The only thing that I ever cared to comment on was the service that CRAIG offered was absolutely horrible. I'm sure that your customers will be treated with the upmost respect and customer service that they deserve, for that I think Craig owes you big time.
As for our clutch kits, the primary reason that we took this project on is because of the great demand from the diesel community out there. All we are trying to do is improve the products that are already out there. Heck if there wasn't any Friendly competition out there nothing would ever improve, and after all that's what we're all about, right?
Evan, I agree we are both on the same team here and I'm sure that we'll end up doing business together one way or another.
Thanks for clearing up that misunderstanding about the vendor thing, I just figured that everyone knew that I was part of SuperDiesel which was a silly thing to do!!
Call if you ever wanna talk about business opportunities, we're always open ears and really do work well with others vendors and competitors :) .
