Hello all, I'm new to this board, read a few things but never posted or joined till now.
I did a little searching for this but didn't come across anything.

I was looking at swapping my 6.0 gas out of my 2001 2500HD chevy for a Duramax.
If i do, i have the wrecked donor pickup, an 04 regular cab long box (LLY Duramax). The front clip of the pickup is gone due to accident but have everythingelse. My pickup is an ext-cab short box.
The only down side, and it might not really be a down side, is that the donor pickups fuse box got wrecked due to the battery exploding but the ECU and other computer components were ok.

Does this sound like a hard swap to do or would it not be that bad? I'm thinking it wont be that bad, the only thing the concerns me is the wiring harness, going from the gas eninge, and 4L80e tranny to all of the duramax components.
Is there something that i'm missing that i sould be looking for or watch for?

not to savvy on where to post things sometimes, but i am learning.

Green machine, i like your pickup in your sig.

By the time you buy all the necessary parts, you will be much, much better off trading the gasser for a diesel.

Take everything out of the 04 and it should work,dont forget about things like the torsion bars I know there are different #s of them.

Same thing I want to do for the most part except I want to out the diesel into my Avalanche. Did you ever do this swap?

No I never did. Being there were different platforms(01 to 04) I didn't want to swap out ALL of the wiring.
Plus I don't have enough room to dismantle both pickups side by side to make it convenient.

I ended up finding an 03 duramax for a good price so I went that route.
A duramax in an avalanche would be cool though.

Yes it would and I think I may have to do it.
