First some background info.
I have a 1983 half ton pickup, NA 6.2/700R4 2wheel drive donor vehicle. The motor will be going into a 1971 Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser.
Due to the passenger side drop transfer case and drive shaft in the Toyota the space for any exhaust pipe on that side is limited. I need to be able to crossover from the right side manifold to the left side, coming together into a single pipe and staying away from the drive shaft (not real concerned about this part). Here's my concern, the output diameter of the stock manifolds curruntly on the 6.2 motor seem rather small to me.
In a very recent thread by JLanzino (1986 GM 6.2 Exhaust Manifolds?) a pic was posted of a 1988-1998 left side manifold. In this pic the manifold appeared to have a larger diameter output than what is found on the earlier manifolds.
My question - Is this correct that the newer manifold is larger? What diameter is it? Does anybody have more pics of both left and right manifolds for a NA exhaust? I'm wanting to put this swap together with a real free flowing intake and exhaust. I already have ideas for the intake and need to formulate a plan for the exhaust. The stock exhaust manifold outlet for the 1983 motor looks very small and restrictive to me. I want to use a manifold with larger outlet diameter, if one is available, and run the two sides together into probably a 3" pipe on back from there.
Any info/ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Don
ps - not sure what I'm doing wrong but everything is backwards when I put this thread together. Instead of all the typed lines starting on the left margin and lining up with the line above and then building to the right margin, it starts on the right margin, lining up with the line above and then building up to the left margin. I previewed the post and everything is still backwards. Don't know what's wrong.
