In what state? How was the test? Stuff you need to study, or just common sense and stuff you know if you have already been driving it?

Haas-lly, congrats on passing the CDL test!

Nar, you have to take a written test....for each endorsement(air, combo, tanker, and so on) once you pass that you get your permit. The hardest part of CDL test is the pre-trip. You have to walk around the truck and explain to the examiner EVERYTHING you looking for and checking. The driving part is real straight forward.

Are you thinking of getting it?

yea make sure you know pretrip and air brake test. in my driving test i took a day cab pete with a 96" wide 48' they made me parallel park it on the blind side then pull straight foward until my front bumper was even with a set of cones, then i had to straight back about the length of the truck then we went on a road test.

Ya, nar if your looken at getting you CDL let us know anyone that’s taken the test a few times can tell you what to study. The pre trip is the hardest, I'm sure with you living of the farm the driving will be cake that helped me out.

I have been thinking I need to get one because some of our twin screw trucks have air brakes, and all are heavy. Plus sometimes I drive another guy's semi to haul grain. So it might be better to have one than not. I just haven't gotten around to doing it.

The pre-trip is the worst part of the deal. On the air brake part of the pretrip just remember L.A.B leaks, air, brakes.

Here in KY, there is a loop hole in the law if you can prove you have been driving a "farm" truck over certain gvw and provide plate numbers and other info I think you get out of most of the testing.

Here they just want you to requote what is in the manual during pretrip back to the instructor.
