I just picked up my 95 extended cab 4x4 pick up last week end, and thankfully researched it before doing so. Turns out the vaccuum line going to the pump was fried, and was replaced the 10 mile drive to my brother's house. I guess I was getting partial boost, because it did not seem too sluggish to me, I was getting smoke when I'd floor it on the freeway. Drove the truck 250 miles from my brother's house, and then all week around town, and except for crappier than expected fuel mileage, I could not be happier. Thursday I hoohed up 6K trailer, and a little under powered, but towed it , even crappier fuel mileage under load. I don't have actual #'s, but I think I'm getting about 10 mpg empty. On friday i pulled the same load, and power was down even more, and so was mileage. I unhooked the trailer, and drove two miles to pick up my son at school, and it died about six times. It restarted every time after about 5 minutes, but died right away, and I could only drive 100 yards at the end before it would do it again. No check engine light, no smoke, no hard starting. It would either just crank, or start right away. I bit the bullet, and ordered the PMD, and mounting kit from SS Diesel yesterday. Having read up on this motor, I was expecting this to happen, and am not dissappointed at all. I love the ride, and how smooth and "quiet" the motor is. I've owned two Cummins in the past, and am a Mopar guy, but since 4 tons is the most I plan on towing, I feel I made the right choice. I paid $2k for my truck, and will have $3.5 in it with upgrades. I loved my Cummins, but couldn't find a decent 4x4 for less than $6k.
