I bought a truck military surplus truck this week. Hoping someone ex military might give me some insight on what it was used for?

It is one I've never seen and didn't know was sold to the military. I used to work for GM and am real familiar with the cucv's.

Here is what I bought:

86 K30, crew cab, rare single rear wheel, manual locking hubs, 350 4bbl, TH400, NP205 w/fixed rear yoke, 4.10's, hydraboost, dual tanks, ss dual exhaust w/o cats, front tow hooks, 12v but massive battery tray, add on dual electric fans, build sheet is marked "AIR FORCE LETTERING", and "FORM 99 INSPECTION"

It is USAF blue.

The neighbor has contracted work to the DOD for years, he said it's a runway truck for the crew of a USAF looking glass/eye in the sky?

Seriously???

Thanks for the input. FWIW I don't think this truck ever left a base. No corrosion from road salt. No road debris damage behind the wheels on the body. The odometer reads 28K, the way things look on the underside that is more than likely the actual mileage.

The USAF calls crew cab's six packs and are a general purpose truck. A lot times they use them to haul crews from the flight line back to their hangar or base ops. If it only has 28k on it then it probably stayed on the flight line most of its life. I don't know why the USAF always gets a 1 ton truck for this duty but every USAF base I have ever been on has them and I have been in the military for over 18 years. In the Army they tell us pilots to get out and walk back to the hangar....

I guess if they ever go to an unimproved airfield it will come in handy because they may actually have to engage the 4x4....
