Some low lives broke my pass side front window and took my GPS (first time I left it in the vehicle, aaarrr).

Anyway, what is my best bet to get this fixed on a Satday? A glass place that does windshield?

PS: police caught the bastages stealing GPS from cars in front of a bar. they found my GPS using the "home" address on it.

Sorry to hear about your truck but a word of caution to everyone...

You shouldnt have your home address in your gps, if these guys were real thieves they would now know where you live and the fact that your not home would make your house an easy target and if you have a garage door opener up on the visor you just gave them an easy way into your house.

Put a gas station or some other landmark a few miles from your house as your home destanation that way you can still use the home feature without giving an exact location. And dont leave anything in the truck such as registration or insurance card with an address in the truck either that way the garage clicker is pretty useless and you can change the code later if it's stolen.

Of course, it is always handy to have your home address programmed in the unit, so feel free to do so, but call it "police station" or "grocery store" to fool the thief.

Set the "home" address to your office or a mailbox service (if you have one) so the device can be returned if an honest person finds it.

Another thing not to do is leave the ring on the windshield after you take it down and put it in a safe place. The thieves look for the ring as a clue. got that one from the Son-in-law who is a cop.

Doesn't really make a difference. I leave my suction cup holder and powercord on the windshield. For all they know, you just bring it in the house with you. They most likely won't break into your truck, unless they see it on the windshield. They're not going to take the chance of breaking into your truck, just to find that the gps isn't in the truck. IMO.

yeah, I was an idiot,
I NEVER have the gps in the truck, Friday morning I flew back from socal and brought the gps and dash mount back with me, and drove straight to the dealer for my free syn oil change. end of the day, wife gave me a ride to the dealership and we were rushing to get some groceries done (why, well it is female thing)
any I just parked the truck on the street and rode in the minivan, and i LEFT the GPS on the dash, arrrrr. came back around 7pm, should have cleaned the truck out.
cops came to house around 11 pm, and knocked,
I agree, if you leave anything in the vehicle you are asking for it, and suction cups are dead give away.

The rings do matter depending on where you are at. At your house...probably not. Someplace like a mall - definitely. The mall near my work had (has?) problems of GPS units being stolen. If the thieves didn't see the GPS unit in the window they were looking for the bracket or the rings. They knew most people would put the unit someplace in the vehicle still and not take it in the mall with them.

Regardless if you left it on the dash, its not your fault there are people like this in our world. I hate this happened to you. Not much I hate worse than a thief. Can't have anything nice anymore.

My Garmin Zumo is pass number protected when you turn it on but I doubt that would stop some crack junkie from breaking the window and stealing it.

Actually just leave the truck unlocked. The GPS is cheaper than the busted window.

lol, the meth addicts here in west michigan will prolly take a dead cat if ya leave it on the dash (hmm, gives me some ideas)

security locked GPS, man garmin thought about everything! maybe they will have an invisible version soon.

anyway, I went to arnie's and had to sit there for 1.5 hrs while the tech replaced it. $240,
now every time I close the door, I I hear the sound of broken glass from the cavities.
