OK, here is the scenario. 05 D/A 9k on truck. EDGE J/A run it on 1x3 90% of the time, 2x3 when towing. I load up 9K 2 days ago and take it 60 miles, drive home unloaded no issues. Get back in my truck after an hour to run to the store, SES light it on as soon as I crank it. Truck runs ok for 5 miles, then starts to loose power at high rpm. Drive back home and park it. Next morning hop in it to take a little trip, runs great so I figure it is ok. 150 miles later it starts loosing power again until it will not run over 65 mph. I pull it in the shop and change the fuel filter, and the old filter does not look too terribly bad. I taske it for a spin and it runs a little better, but still not right. Puill it back in the shop and check to codes, "EGR low air flow" and "EGR solenoind......". I clear the codes and it runs great, but after 50 miles the codes are back and it runs bad again. Question, what key words do I tell the service advisor to get all of the factors looked at? Any opinions on the J/A contributing to this issue?

Thanks!

if you have no exhaust mods done then just remove your J/A and take it in with the SES light on and let them diagnose it. J/A by itself usually doesn't throw EGR codes, but exhaust changes will on the LLY.. they are very sensitive to change.

I like to take a vehicle in knowing what the problem is before hand and see if they tell me the same thing or try blowing smoke up my tail pipe!

By any chance have you played with unplugging your EGR and possibly did not plug it back in all the way?? Just a thought.

no exhaust upgrades and I have never unplugged the EGR... The only thing I have done to the truck to date is the J/A.

in that case you may be one of the few that has a faulty EGR.. remove your J/A and take it in

I removed the J/A and took it to the dealer this morning. Any one had a dealer ask about the pyro wires in the engine compartment not hooked up? I figured I would tell them I am in the preocess of adding a guage if the ask. I guess I will see how it goes.

Throwing false EGR codes is a characteristic of a misbehavin' Harness Box style tuner, like Edge or VA.

You should have removed the Edge and tested to see if the problem went away.

I had unhooked the edge to see if it resolved to issue with no results. took it into the dealer, no questions asked the EGR valve was stuck open. 2 days later they received the repacements parts and I was out the door. truck runs better now than ever and my fuel mileage seems to have increased some too. hooked the edge back up and everything is great.

UPDATE!! EGR valve crapped out again. It will stay closed in the mornning untill the truck warms up, by them I am on the highway. As soon as the EGR valve opens I loose all acceleartion ability from idle to highway driving. This time it crapped without the J/A connected, I had sent it up for the version update, so I suppose I can rule EDGE out of the equation. Am I the only one having this problem?
