so i was at the gm dealership today and now gm has a bulletin for it to be manditory to take a digital pic of their scan tools and send it to gm before any warrenty work is to be done on a 6.6 duramax truck. so that being said i was wondering if there is a company that has new ecm's that will show up no new calibrations or a stock un touched ecm that i would be able to buy and replace only when needed for warrenty work.

I remeber reading about kenedy tuning and they may sell a tuned ecm to replace your stock one so you can swap back and forth. how ever i it the opposite way i need a stock one because i have a tuned ecm right now that even if returned to stock on the chip will still show up as modified and my warrenty will be voided. i know my dealer very well and my dad use to be the service manager at the dealership so this was never a issue before but now the dealership is obligated to forward all pictures to gm.

Also a new little thing is a bulleton on any oiled filter element air filters. i guess they are messing up the mas air flow sensor, and they also have to take a picture of the engine compartment now also, any mods void warrenty.

I guess that may work as far as getting past the non gm tunes. Unsure if an ECM programmed this way is exactly the same. Now if you have done a DPF delete then they will know something is up this way since the number of regens is recorded. If it has maybe 10 regens in 20,000 miles then they know something has been altered. So not sure what your going in for but they may look at that or may not.

Yep the oiled type air filters can cause MAF issues. Usually cleaning with MAF cleaner works but I believe the way the test procedure works is if not reading right replace. Nothing about cleaning is my guess.

If it did not come with it I guess it can be voided these days.

well as far as i know talking to the owner of the dealership and the service manager they are thinking about bringing in some extra ecm's just for this reason. They can program the VIN into the new ecm with their GM scan tool. basicaly once you have the new ecm the picture that gm requires is only that of the calibrations screen to be taken. on the calibrations screen it show all previous tunes and any present dtc codes.

so for all us guys now that want to tune their truck so long as they have a reasonable dealership such as mine, are going to have to buy a second ECM and tune the second one and leave the origanal stock ECM alone unless they have to take it in for warrenty work. hope this stands as a heads up for some people on here.

But still if anyone knows of a used stock ECM would be intrested and getting one. or a company that sells referbed un-tuned 2008 duramax ECM's.

I believe Kennedy will sell you an ECM with a stock tune, set up for your VIN for about $350.

I am using an Edge juice/attitude that don't show any programming in the ECM, but I am looking for a new TCM as that will show more torque on the trannie. I have not been able to find any TCM's for sale. As far as I can tell if you have programmed your ECM then you are S$%^&.
