I Have A 05 Max Crewcab Sb, It Has 700 Miles. I Ahve Been Experiencing Something That I Call A Miss Or Starvation Of Fuel Under Medium Exceleration. This Usually Happens At Each Shift Point And It Sometimes Belches Thru The Air Cleaner. Took It To The Dealer And They Could Not Find Anything Wrong. Tried Another Truck Out And It Seems To Do The Same Thing But Not As Bad As Mine. Any Ideas Or Suuggestions. By The Way There Have Not Been Any Mods Done To This Truck

It sounds like you are experiencing defueling during shifting that is sometimes resulting in a turbo bark. If that is the case, it will get better as you get a few miles on it and the transmission gets used to the power.

I have had the same issue 3 seperate times. It has always been when I am going slow and then floor it to pass someone. A "bark" is a good description, although it reminds me of a backfire through a carb. -Keith

Is it really barking the turbo, or does it just sound like turbo bark? Isn't turbo barking a bad thing??? Is this something that's more prevalent on VVT's?

I was just about to post a thread about this when I found this one. Mine is doing the same thing. It's happened twice and I thought it was backfiring or something. I'm new to diesels so I wasn't sure what it was. Both times it happened while getting on the freeway at about half to 3/4 throttle. Does it really go away after a while? I have around 2,000 miles on it now.

Just got home from gm service shop for the third time for the same thing(refer to catdogracer's post). This seems to be an intermittant problem. It took approx. 20 miles of trying to duplicate it for the mechanic before I decided it wasn't going to and out of the blue "wooosh"!!! It seems to happen just when your not trying to do it. I'm sure the mechanic was thinking I was crazy before it happened, but when it did he knew there was a problem. Even though there wasn't a code. I pulled a 15,500# toy hauler last weekend and everytime I was getting up to speed it would "bark," twice and sometimes three times in a row. Other than when it occures the truck runs strong.
I took the truck in today to have a diagnostic scanner (I don't know the name of it, but it takes a one minute picture of 5 different perameters while driving) the service guy called it a snapshot. While talking to the tech, the tech said that he had attended a conference in Las Vegas and this Barking issue came up. He said it was in the begining stages of a TSB. He said that it was due to the most recent program upgrade on the computer. He said that by reflashing the computer with the previoius version this problem could go away. My truck has the most recent version.
This was good news until the tech said I couldn't get the reflash because my tires were too big. He had a check list of conditions that "had to be met" prior to the reflash. He said they could not get the reflash until I changed my 265 75 R16's back to 245 75 R16's, what a bunch of Censored !!!! Although, he didn't say anything about my banks six gun that was disconnected but still under the hood. I'll be trying to find someone to reflash it with my huuuugh!! tires on it. When I do I will be giving an update. My fingers are crossed.

Wow - what a BS is that? With those huuuge tires 99 % of all dmaxes on the road would not get a reflash! Does that reflash to the former Software decrease the power so that these huuge meats cannot be rotated anymore - possible!
Or maybe the reflasher has the tire size stored in memory and fails the flash because the tires are out of memory.....

:lol::muahaha:Censored

But DONT worry, the former Firmware had other problems...none is better than the other....GM is really useless and has no clue whats going on with those trucks...what a shame
Mine has still the drone between 1600...1900 RPM but the Dealership is too dumb and / or lazy to take care of it....will take care of it myself.:ro)
