Morning All-

Can anyone verify if the tire pressure sensor system works on the dually? I do not have a warning light but the maintenance email from the truck says there is an issue. I figure it is the 4 vs. 6 tire deal.

Asked the dealership and they have yet to inspire any confidence with me.

I havent heard if GM put that on the duallies or not. If I was to take a guess I dont think your truck has it. But I have been known to be wrong before.

Federal law, I would bet it is in the dually.

it is not on the duallys , the message you get says "there may be a problem" ignore it and it won't go away.LOL The messages I get thru onstar and email are a long way from accurate ,they even say all is fine when its not? PS there is no federal or other law regarding pressure monitors ...Yet.

In case you haven’t read this publication for the past two issues, the federal government has passed legislation that mandates TPMS on every vehicle under 10,000 lbs GVWR starting September 2007. It’s not an option for consumers who purchase new vehicles after that date, nor is it an option for tire dealers and service providers who install or repair passenger and light truck tires. TPMS is the law and if the laws are not followed, the penalties could be severe. Those points alone should be enough to justify the shift in approach, yet there will still be some that refuse to recognize the opportunity and responsibility that TPMS creates.

Exactly, BUT the GVW of a dually is over 10K #'s and GM never offered nor does GM support tire monitoring on the 3500 DRW trucks. I'd suspect that some programmed the truck's options incorrectly while doing an update, such as the immobilzer recalibration.

It is a law for sure but like said once rated for over a certain gvwr it is not required.
