I would call DTT and find out the info that you want. I am not sure you will get the answers you are looking for. Good luck..

LOL specifics?

Like Trans? Twins?

Personally, I put in an order for ATS equipped trans for the new truck.

The DTT trans appears to be a "hit-and-miss" type upgrade right now, and if it misses, your stuck with it.

I'm sure if you call them, they will say they have a great transmission available for the Allison and it's the world's best, ready for immediate delivery. This is per DTT posts on this board.

Problem is, they cannot back up it.

As far as the trans, I'm about to roll 10K in TOWING miles (17K Miles to date)
And no problems at full power and (over) loaded (sometimes ;) )

I hope to have a TC soon that will keep up to the trans. Either that or get my last one back and installed.

Intersting note: I can slip the lockup clutch in a stock convertor when locked and not trigger a 'limp mode' There goes one theory about total slippage in the TC causing the limp condition.

Mine is going in this weekend hopefully (if I have access to the lift, if not, might do it in the driveway or just wait til next weekend using the lift).

Elowe65 - I see your from Callifornia--personally I wouldn't recommend doing this in your driveway unless you can get Arnold to help:) :) :), 330 lbs w/o converter! With his help you won't even need a transmission jack. Good luck, let us know how things work out with the trans. Thank you.

After watching mine done I'd never do it without the right tools. Not a driveway project by any means. The tranny is massive. Be careful and good luck.

Should have seen me get the trans out of the back of the truck when I found out my jack on my engine hoist took a crap.

Lets just say that rafters in the garage are alot stronger than most people think!!

Gotta do what you gotta do!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got off the phone with my trans guy and it looks like I have to wait another week for the lift. Looks like I'm just lowering it this weekend.

Re reading the thread does not lead me to that conclusion.

I sure wish i had the $$$ to run all 3 trannies back to back.

It should be interesting to see how Elowe makes out, and offers his .02

I do know what mine has been through as far as towing etc, and that is as abusive as it gets. We certainly don't have hills around here:rolleyes: it is appx 600 miles of winding road between DTT and me, 9 mountain passes; the lowest elevation being 5300' ASL and the highest near 12000' ASL

Hmmm.... I think i will go renew my membership at the DEZEL PAGE.... they do still have the tow off don't they?
This also explains my need for a bigger truck... I DODGE scales more often than I actually report.
what is 15 tons of weight for me to pull... nothing at all... but the stopping leaves a bit to be desired.

Yesterday for example was 6 pallets of Porcelain Tiles. 12,000 pounds on the trailer, trailer is a 27' steel flatdeck goose (I would imagine the trailer is 3K minimum), then the 1000 lbs of thin set mortar in the bed.

Most know where I stand. I don't believe they have it figured out yet. I'd strongly recommend giving them a year to get everything worked out. And even than if you want any type of warranty they'll have to do the work.

Some interesting reading will be available later tonight as we just got done tearing my transmission down and the results were interesting.

Towing? A stock trans does VERY well towing. Drag racing and sled pulling are far more abusive. But nobody with the DTT#2 is doing that.

I was seriously going to go with the DTT to compare it to the Suncoast, but I was waiting for a "review" of it from an impartial party. The "review" ended up being a customer getting cornholed. I think I'll keep my anal virginity for now. :D

It must be;) I guess heavy towing at 500 plus to the ground is just not hard enough on a transmission. Or dragracing for that matter.

Time to get some sleeves and center link and start sledpulling I guess. But aren't sleds only 40K lbs for about 300 feet? (and yes i do realize the weight transfer and the pan drop)

I am not interested in pulling. My truck does that to earn it's keep 4 times a week. Pulling 2 or 3 times a month would be taking it easy on her!

If you are towing heavy at 500RWHP, you are the only one. Congrats. The other trucks will overheat after a few minutes of sustained 500rwhp. My cooling system was getting hot at 17k lb up a 6% at 7400ft on a 100 deg day. That was with 300rwhp. I can just imagine what it does with 500rwhp towing 40k.

If you honestly believe that the target market for "level > 1" trans upgrades is the RV crowd or the hotshots, there ain't much I can help you with.

Do a couple dozen 1/4mi hotlaps and report back. The Suncoast can hang.

I have done some Gtech runs in 2WD until i get the sleeves and Clink.
13.4's at 109 MPH.. but i don't trust the Gtech.
Trans I am running is lev 2 now, level 1 handled the same abuse fine.
My cooling system according to the attitude registered a peak of 105C
The fan was on the last 1/3 of the pass.
