So I have been kicking around how I want to turbo my CUCV. Do I try to make a 6.5 setup work ? Do I try to find a used Banks ? I spoke with Banks today. The will sell just the pass side manifold for 400$. I really don't like thier way of connecting to the manifold. I have a nice f intake ready to go. I really don't feel like spacing the 6.5 manifold and I definitely don't feel like swapping 6.5 heads onto it. What I am thinking is get the Banks manifold. Use an F intake. The 50$ question is what turbo to use ? A BAnks ? A GMx ? A Holset ? Which ones if any will fit the flange of the Banks manifold ? Is it a t3 or t4 ?? Any ideas/opinions ?

why do you need to swap 6.5 heads on for a turbo?
with the limited amount of boost you can push into one of these things, i'm not to worried about what type it is , as long as it can spoolup fast enough

if you dont have A/C id say go with the 6.5 manifold and turbo. i found one for 150 bucks around here it was a GM-3(mechanical waste gate spring so no vacuum required!) took some brain thinking and some grinding to make it all work but it does. youll need to grind the manifold and a little off of the 2 injector nuts in the middle two cylinders and it will fit.

6.5 manifold from what I am told hits the injectors on the 6.2 due to the angle and I wasn't in love with grinding the nuts even though it has been done sucessfully.

thats if you use long injectors. short ones, it all fits

Ahhhhh, THAT is the answer I was looking for. Injector swap , no big deal at all. Now riddle me this batman...What If my longs are course thread(I am not sure yet didn't pull one) Can I still use shortys ?

nope..... course were only in 82. every other year exchanges. i rebuilt an 82 red block and got new heads so i could use short injectors

well that changes things a bit. I just so happen to have an F intake and a set of 6.5 manifolds.
