my brothers got an 06 lbz and wants to get a tune for his ecm but not buy PPE, efi live, etc......... i got a gasser myself and had a guy do a mail order tune where he records data from my pickup stock, builds a tune from that and sends out a tuned ecm and re records data from that to make sure everything is running fine and then i have the choice of keeping my stock ecm or giving it to him for a deposit back. does anyone do this sort of thing for duramaxes? who would b the best choice to go with? any help is much appreciated

Why not go with a PPE or something? That way he can adjust power levels(towing/etc), read and clear codes and build on his truck as he goes without having to have a new tune done everytime? I know where your coming from on the gas, have had tuning done on camaro,Silverado SS and 6.0 Avalanche, the biggest thing on the diesels is the egts. If he doesn't want to do gauges go with a Banks PDA

If he finds someone with EFI live, they can tune his truck for him, it would be $100 for the license I belive. I would just get a tuner if I were him though, if you're gonna mod a 30k dollar truck might as well spend the 500 or so on a tuner.
