Hey the other day I got a electrical smell in the cab and next thing the hi fan went out GEE! Anyway whata ya think, they say it may be the module, OK wheres it at? Aso maybe a plug on the fan got melted wheres that at? I suppose I have to pull the plastic panel on the pass side, must be in that area. Can the hi fan be kobbed up to work or do you have to buy a new resisitor module/ special plug if melted, sound like this may be common? Any help on this guys.

This is on a 06 LBZ with the dual manual controls, every thing else works good, 1-4 speed and blow direction controls etc.

Since it is a dual control, it will be called a module I believe (trust me, just went through this with the in laws 03 1500- when I would call parts stores, even GM stores they were giving wrong numbers, etc. on this. What they call a blower motor resistor has a 7 pin connector on the piece- I believe yours will have only 3). Yes it is mounted under that panel, look at the blower motor towards the fire wall- the wire that plugs into that runs back towards the passenger seat (or towards you if by the glove box), and that plugs into the module. Another warning- I would just get the part number off of it when you call in- will be much easier (not sure since yours 06, but in the 03 there was a part number change). Also beware if they start asking 2 hole, or 4 hole mounting, all they should need is the part number off the old one- the mounting doesn't matter, they were both basically the same since they BOTH had the 7 pin connector. Pretty easy to check if that's what it is though, just use a test light at the blower connector and see if you have juice to it, if not, make sure that you have juice to the module and if so, module is out....
