Hi, I am looking to purchase a 03 LT crewcab all power, shortbed 2wd, auto with 95500 miles. It is a one ower, body is in good condition a few ding and scraps. It has a shell. The interior is in very good condition, no tears on leather. Has a clean carfax, still on 1st set of injectors. I will have to replace u-joints and carrier bearing. All stock, new tires in Feb. of 09. He will let it go for 14,400.00. This will be my !st diesel, I have been reading and researching the drawbacks of the duramax in the 01 to 04 time frame.
What are the thoughts out there? good deal or not ?
Thanks for input and thoughts

Are you mechanically inclined? If you buy it I'd check out the fuel rail and injector readings to determine if she's out of limits. If so, it may be time to rip into her for the injectors. I'm doing it right now on my 02. You may still be under warranty. Read the 7/200,000 warranty because it gets specific on what the stealer will do and won't. Nice trucks though.

Ya, check the injectors out and if there bad and its still in warranty (7 yrs from sold date) buy it and get them replaced. The dealer will check this for $100. Either way, thats a real good deal.

Do NOT buy an LB7 without understanding that you may have to foot the bill for injectors soon...gm only covers them to 200 for a CERTAIN FAILURE ,and they have been wiggling out of that

I just bought my GMC c/c DMAX with 150k on it and paid $16000. looks like the price is right on yours. But mine injectors were done when I purchased it. I would be a good idea to check with a Dealer first. If there are no Injector problems right now, you would be taking a risk like Argon says. Especially since the 7 years could be up very soon depending on when your truck was put into use.
BTW - I LOVE my truck, and this is my first diesel as well! Wish I had bought one a Long Long time ago... i have had a few minor problems, but STILL wouldn't trade back! This place is the best when searching for solutions for problems or information about modifying your truck for more HP. Everyone has always been very helpful to me so far.

Yes, I have read quite a bit on the fourm about the injectors, that has been the hold up in buying the truck.

Injector issues aren't limited to just the LB7.

You can do a VIN check on this forum just to see what items have been addressed.

Common issues include speedo cluster and t-case pump rub. Get the maintenance records to see if it was taken care of.

I love my '03.
