Ok I know this is a "diesel Place" forum but there is lots good stuff for the gassers. Trouble is, there's so much small block (6.0's and under) and corporate not allison trans, it can lead to misinformation for 8.1L (L18)/allison(M74) group. Anyone know of any web sites dedicated to 8.1/Ally?(no offense to Diesel Place) or how bout having an 8.1L/A only forum here? I can deal with the oil burners bashing us big block pullers, after all, we do love the same tranny.

I haven't ever heard of one, and I usually have trouble finding information on the internet about the 8.1L trucks. But I sure did love the one I had.

I think you'll find that most of us that went from 8.1/A to D'max/A will be willing to scout the gasser thread from time to time and help out where we can. I did 53k on my '03 8.1/A 4x4 before going diesel, so I know a few things about it (and '00 6.0/4L80E before it). If there's a big block forum out there, go for it. Just don't give up on this one. There's alot here that applies to all of our GM trucks.

www.ls1tech.com was a good place though it was not specifically for the 8.1 liter.

Thanks guys
I've beeen scouting the net, I think they call it Blogging? Looks like the Marine Boat racers have High Performance aftermarket goodies for the hardcore and crate engines can be found. I've found info here and there on the 8100. I'm weeding though all the bookmarks I've logged and catalog into some type of list. It going to take some time as I'm still finding stuff, trying to fix annoying cold start chirp, and get outta town. Looking forward to pulling all the toys with my new (to me) big block.

The biggest community of 8.1s I found is www.GM-Trucks.com (http://www.GM-Trucks.com)
