i got a big head on my truck and a PPE boost valve and my truck is only making 24 peak 22 solid when tuned stock only 18 solid and 20 peak...it was making 28-30 solid and 31-32 peak before...do i just need to adjust wastegate more? is boost valve worth keeping?

how old/miles on is the big head gate?? they do wear out and the set screw will move over time. check all the lines or any signs of dry rot and change them out for new lines if needed.

maybe 3 months...the actuator arm has to be pulled off to adjust right?

yes the arm has to be removed to adjust the tension on the bighead. with the truck off the adjuster arm from the blow off gate should have just a slight amount of slack in it. about a c*** hair before the bighead starts to pull on it. now I was thinking that the bighead had an actual adjuster screw for the amount of pressure in the can on the diaphragm, alas it does not. have you run the truck with just the bighead and no PPE and v/v. how does it run?? their may be a issue with the PPE unit. dont forget to check all your boost tubes and boots for good tight connections. all these tests are done with the same tune, correct??

when the gate was put on there was no tune on truck...once tuned from stock to 425 it only made 4lbs more boost....at first there was no boost valve just banks gate....and all the valve did was make it more snappy didn't actually give it more boost i'm gonna try and mess with it today and see what i can figure out just try to take gate off and adjust

All that a boost valve does is delay the boost signal to the wastegate by bleeding off a percentage of air. You probably need to adjust your wastegate.

thats the plan and couple people told me to ditch the boost valve its meant to be used with stock wastegate

To make the Big Head adjustablility easier, have a source of compressed air available. Unplug the vacuum line and put the air into this. This will make the rod easier to move and then you adjust the nut. From the stock location of the nut, I did about 6 turns and got it adjusted to 32lbs.

If you have a Big Head wastegate then you dont need the Boost Valve. You can adjust the big head to compensate for the boost valve. Thats what is good about the big head it is adjustable to your likeing.

oh yea sorry i took off the boost valve and cranked the big head in 2 1/2 more turns and now its making 27-28 solid 29-30 peak and barks like all hell...this is on my big tune obviously so i'm leaving it there...plus it pretty much doesn't smoke at all anymore and boost way faster...so thanks to everyone for there insight
