Hey dudes,
I searched for someone who has used the 80hp chip from SSDiesel but couldn't really find an answer. Has anyone used this 80hp chip? Is it pretty good? I know that you need exhaust and gauges first but I am just curious if anyone has tried it. Thanks

I have heard from a couple people on either here or another diesel forum that have used the SS Diesel chips. As most here will tell you, the HP claims are a bit inflated or the claim is under absolutely optimal conditions vice real world conditions. Your Mileage May Vary.

May be a good product SS Diesel has a good rep for other products they offer, 80 Hp is a mightily bold claim, might want to ask PAR-TIKLARS how 80 hp is valid and at block or rwhp.
I'm tuned as far as one can go with bolt on stuff and combined I mite hit 80hp rwhp gained on given just right condition, last dyno run I think 197 rwhp is what I got, different dynos/dyno operators, op temps, tires/inflation pressure, will net different dyno number.
190-220 rwhp is about max I've seen published results from various 6.5 owners using bolt on mods & reflashes/chips only, more Hp can be made but requires going into engine for beefing up and lowering CR.
Check FAQs for how to build for power in a step by step manner, just adding a chip/reflash no matter how big the claim won't do it. and if you don't do other things 1st ; you can actually set you up for damage down the road, reprograming is last in a series of things to do IMO.
BTW Shayne stroll thru the Welcome note sticky at top of 6.5 forum and update your sig per instructions there, helps us figure out where you are on the 6.5 learning curve, and you don't have to repeat in body of each message what you configuration is

Thanks Turbine Doc. Sorry about the Sig. I was so excited to find this site I didn't bother updating it. My plans are exhaust, gauges, chip, turbo fooler, pmd relocator and I hope that will make me some good power. I was also planning on doing the cooling upgrade! I have searched on here and I think that is a good start going by what everyone else seems to have. Thanks

I agree with Turbine Doc about SS Diesel. Walt is always available and is very knowledgable and will take the TIME to talk to someone. My point was that it appears damn near impossible to get 80 hp out of just a chip. Charge air cooling is a must.

Ditto, and I bet even then you'd be lucky to see 80!;)

I haven't tried the chip yet, but I have been looking at it because I have done business with Walt in the past and really think he is a good guy. I too doubt the 80 hp claim, but I think almost all the chips available are rated higher than what we will get from them. If you do go with Walt's chip let us know the results you see as I am in the market for hop up parts.
