Is it just me, or does that rear prop look like it's at a pretty steep angle? How are the vibes? It's non-cv too, iirc...Edited by: Joe E

I need to replace the front driveshaft to correct the high angle, but the front CV's are almost flat. No vibration on the drive shaft.

You should see my wife climb into it. It's pretty funny. Gotta get some steps soon.Edited by: Pendlum

Is it a Duramax/Allison? What gearing are you using? I ask because I want to put a lift on mine (when it gets here) and was thinking of running CST lift with 37's. I'm just not sure about the gearing.

I am very sorry to hear that you have done business with 3rd coast. You will be disappointed very soon with the suspension lift and the service that you will not get when you start to have issues with your truck. Trust me, you will wish that you went somewhere else.

Unfortunately it's the 6.0L. I should have gone with the Diesel. I even had a friend tell me to drive the diesel before I bought the truck, but I didn't. That was my only mistake.

The truck came with 4.10's (I hunted for this truck) and the 6.0L is a lot more powerful than I thought it was going to be with the 39.5's. I couldn't imagine what it would be like with 3.73 (unless you have the diesel).

I bet with a diesel you wouldn't even notice the tire size on power.

I drove John's truck (the yellow one in the picture) and it has 3.73 with the diesel and you can't even tell. So much power. I bet it would turn those 39.5's so easily.

Hurry up and order the lift so you can slap it on when the truck arrives. I want pics!!! I have the same question about needing to regear and 37s with the Duramax. Some say yes, others say no.

For the amount of lift you have IH the 36s look surprisingly good. No need to go bigger until they wear out.

Why no lift this time round GMC2500HD?

I do not want to go through all the issues that I had with previous lifted trucks. Just more of a hassle than a lifted truck should be, besides then it would not pull a 42ft car hauler or a powerboat.

Downsize to a more practical lift/tire combo like 6" on 35s. Or do you just feel lifted trucks are more of a pain than they are worth?

I want to do this as soon as it gets here, if I don't I will never do it. Just not sure yet on the config. I see some nice rides on 35", why I want 37's I don't know. Right now I'm thinking of the CST 9-11" LIFT KIT and 35's, I can go bigger in tires later.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif I have a month or so to think about it still.Edited by: Voodoo

Y2kboti, I just feel that after owning one and having all that stuff done to it and spending all that money it was a waste. I found out after I lifted it and spent all this money what the truck was not capable of doing anymore. So now I will stick with stock and sensible.

Diesel-n-dust. I am not blaming anyone just saying that I think that they are not worth it anymore, I was told what kit was good at the time and I did my own research and felt ok about the purchase, but now I wish I had all the money back that I have spent on doing this to my previous trucks.

9-11" kit and 35s will look pretty weird IMO. Now the 9-11" set at 9" with 37s might look pretty sweet but too high for my tastes. Voodoo I have some pics from SEMA(all CST trucks in different configs) you may want to take a look at. Drop me an email if you want them.

I have felt the same way at times but I don't want any money back. I just wish I would have done things right the first time around. In all honesty Whiplash is a crappy product IMO and many others. If you are happy with a stock truck more power to you. You'll free up alot of money for other things. Wish I had that will power! Lately I've been thinking about maybe just some 285s and a couple turns on the torsion bars but then I look at some of these pictures(see below) and my mind runs wild!

y2kboti - don't sweat it. I always like to see responses and pics.

Went back to Kevin for my 200 mile checkup and love it. Now that I've had it for a few weeks, it doesn't feel that big to me anymore. Oh no, I was afraid this was going to happen.

Do they make 44's for 20" wheels, ha ha!!

I can see that I need a steering stabilizer though. The ride is much better than stock. On the stock setup I could barely hold a drink without spilling it. Now I can talk on the phone, eat, drink, take notes and drive with my knee all at once, ha ha!

JP how are you liking the sunroof so far? I wish they were a factory option on these trucks http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif Do you know if when they installed it they had to cut any major structural support beams? Are there any safety issues if you were to roll it?

Pendlum
01-06-2004, 12:05 PM
I love the sunroof. Here is my routine for getting in the truck.

Jump/climb in the truck, start truck, seat belt, sunroof (no matter how cold it is), set radio, drive.

I'm still amazed at the installation. I haven't pulled down the headliner to see the installation, but I never remember any supports in that area. If you press on the outside the area flexes pretty easily.

I wish they were a factory option too, but my favorite feature is the Auto-close. I just get out of the truck and it closes on its own. I never have to worry about it. Next to the lift, it's the best upgrade I've done (had done) on the truck.

If I roll the truck I may get hit with some glass, but I'm confident the cage will still hold (to a certain degree).

I'm thinking of pressurizing the interior (like a plane) because I'm so high up there. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I did the 285's and the torsion bars and is ok until a lifted truck pulls up or a stock dodge or ford the same height. Lift it and be happy. I am going to a 6 in fabtech and I think that with 35's is going to be much better. Especially when I smoke those HEMI's

there was a gal on the "other" page (DIVA) that had a 6" lift and ran 37 inch swampers with a ranch hand. she said she noticed the tires but was never a problem with the juice. My opinion, go to 4.10s and restore the ratio close to stock. If you use the truck, put a locker in the front

3500dmax

I have read her comments but then I read ones like this that she also posted:

Yeah, I really like the look of the lift and 37's on my truck, but to be honest, I'm not sure that I would do it all again, given the chance. Mileage has suffered tremendously, as has performance (thank goodness for the Juice; it's been my salvation!).

Now let me disect this a little bit. Who doesn't like the look of a lifted truck. Yes they can be a pain, maybe sometimes you wish it was stock but we are human and we can change our minds. You can't expect a lifted truck to get stock mileage(ref: sometimes you wish it was stock) but if your mpg drop significantly maybe it's not worth it. She says power has also suffered but the Juice helps. Those 10-ply Swampers are damn heavy as is her aerodynamic Ranch Hand bumper. Going on my current truck I would say if she went with a lighter wheel/tire combo mileage and power wouldn't suffer nearly as much.

y2kboti, I agree. I have a 6" Superlift on my truck w/ 315/75/16 BFG KO's, and get pretty good economy under the circumstances. Normally run the Predator in the 120HP setting, and get antwhere from 15.3 to 16.1 MPG around town. Needles to say, w/ the extra 120HP, power is not a problemhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif Funny, though, the rear tires seem to wear much faster than the frontshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif You can see pic's of my truck by clicking the link in my sig.

Boti, I recently got back from a trip to Dallas. The truck got a solid 18mpg driving 75-80 mph.

I average 15 mpg in the city.

I run the predator on level 2.

y2kboti, sorry I did not reply earlier. I do very little hwy. driving, but last trip ( about 350 miles) I averaged about 15.5, again in the 120HP setting, and running between 75 & 80 MPH. Since I upgarded the Predator to the 120, I just haven't been able to back it downhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif On the earlier versions I had, the mileage was slightly better in the lower HP tunes, but I'm having too much fun now and can certainly live w/ the fuel mileage I'm getting, so I haven't evem tried 'emhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif DinoMaxhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
