Hi,

I did a search but couldnt find what tire pressure are you running bigger tires. Towing a 9,000lbs travel trailer with airbags and 35'x18 toyo open country m/t's E rated (3400lbs). tires max out at 65lbs. what do you recommend? thinking 45lbs?

Do you know the load rating for the tires? I'd be inclined to run the rears at the max pressure, probably the fronts, too as far as that goes, when towing. Partly to reduce sidewall flex, which helps keep trailer sway in check and partly to make sure your tires can handle the weight.

IMHO 45psi is too low even when not towing on the front tires. These diesel engines put about 4300lbs on the front axle unloaded, rear end about 2700-3000lbs. Under-inflated tires will wear much faster, the sidewall can buckle under fast/evasive maneuvers, and they will heat up, fast! :o:

When towing tires should be properly inflated depending upon the load they are carrying. At 9000lbs with 15% tongue weight that's 1300-1400lbs on the rear end in addition to the trucks weight. You should be at/about max psi.

When towing the tires are almost at max pressures(80psi) on my truck; non-towing the fronts are at 65 psi, rears at 50 psi. ;) Hope this helps! JJ :)
