A friend of mine has a hypertech he has used for about 7k miles and hes selling his truck.if he unloads his program can i use it in my truck? or does the vin# have to be reset by hypertech? somebody help i want to buy his hypertech but not if i have to spend money on it to load it in my truck. and yes both trucks are LLY's

If the HyperTech model number is the same for use on both types of trucks. Then as long as he returns his truck to stock settings, the HyperTech can be used on yours.

JUST MAKE SURE that the programmer model number can work on your truck and he returned his to stock.

yes, it will work providing, as said above, that the model number works for both trucks and he returns his program back to stock.

keep in mind, since I ran into this, if your hypertech programmer needs upgrading for any reason they will charge you $200 to do it, unless you are the original owner and have the original truck VIN, etc. They will only charge for shipping in that case. So basically, your friend can send it in for ya. they can tell how many its been used on. I ran into this when I sold a programmer a while back.

Let me get this right briano. If you are the original owner and there are upgrades, they do this for free, except the shipping. I have an 03 w/ the HYPER and I don't have the top speed eliminator. I called HYPER and they said it would be $200.00 to upgrade to this feature. I am the original owner w/ receipt. I don't think this is true unless their screwing me.

Pure Diesel,
I talked with Hypertech a couple of months ago and was told by them that because our 3/4 and 1 ton pickups have tires rated for load and not speed, that they do not remove the speed limiter on the model #30029 programmer.

Just my .02

Just sent them (HT) an email regarding this and upgrades. I have model #30021 which was the only one for Duramax...prior to the LLY coming out. I got it back on 12/11/03. Ask them if they have a update for my model or is the #30029 the same but now accepts LLYs.

I bought the 30029 in December o4 and didn't find out until after I had installed it that it did not remove the speed limiter. I sold it and bought an Edge and am now looking for a Predator to take care of the speed limiter and to read codes. I did like the performance of the hypertech but knew the day after I programmed my pickup that I was going to have to have more!!!!
