I have been looking for a new to me truck now for about 2 weeks. We pull about 7000lbs of trailer and horses on a regular basis and think it is time to upgrade to a diesel. I started out looking at all 3 brands and have since narrowed my search to a 02-07 duramax or 03-07 cummins 5.9. I found a 2002 GMC Duramax with 94000 miles on it 4dr, 4X4 and the guy wants $17900.00. I am going to look at this on saturday does anyone have any advise to offer.

You didn't mention to many options so I figured the basics plus and came up with high kelly blue book at 13,900 and low 11,500. Also I figured the 2500. You did not mention either a half ton or 3/4 ton. Unless i am missing something else. Going on what I came up with I'd offer about 15K in very good condition. Hope this helps.

It is a 2500 HD (did they put a durmax in a 1/2 ton?) Cloth int, pwr windows, locks,drivers seat, mirrors, spray in bedliner, nurf bars, new tires.

The only thing to watch out for with the first gen. duramaxes (LB7s) is the injectors. They are known to fail, and this truck, with about 94k on it, could be getting close to that time. Seems like once the trucks get over the 100k mark the injectors fail sooner or later. This only applies to the LB7s though (01-04), they smoothed out the problem on the later models. Just something to consider, as its about a $ 5k fix. Ask the seller if the injectors have been replaced.

Sorry but no, Actually I forgot about the injectors when giving you a figure to bargain for. Definitely it would be a lower offer, Call and get some estimates, Let him know you know that the injectors are known to fail on this model year, Make him think your very knowledgable. But definetly call for some estimates first. good kuck
