I have a friend who owns an indepenet automotive repair shop. He recently bought a GMC diesel rollback truck... not sure what year, series and engine it is other than I know it is a diesel.
I was talking to him yesterday and he was telling me an issue he has with the truck that nobody can seem to answer with any degree of certainty. I can get more specifics from him this morning later on as far as engine type and what not... will post that later on.
Anyway, his problem is the truck is just plain slow. Just no get up and go. He said the RPM's and everything are ok and he can get up to his desired top speed... but just takes forever. He said he can run 70 MPH or faster if he wanted to do so and RPMs and all are ok.
He said he was beside a school bus so he thought he would hammer down on it to see if he could beat it on take off. LOL - he said the school bus took off like he was standing still.
He said it does not matter if he is loaded or unloaded - it runs the same. It does not run any slower when loaded.
I know Diesel Place is a great place to get your answers... so I told him I would put it out there to see what I get back.
It doesn't smoke. It idles good. He said he had a previous truck I'm assuming was diesel also that had the get up and go. He said he has to accomodate for going up hills by building up his speed and gearing down as it slows down.
Thanks for any input and ideas...
