Found a '02 Duramax 2500HD LS ext'd cab long bed at a local dealer. Has 34k miles. Fair price. Is 924.8 engine hours approximately correct for that mileage?

I ask because the truck has been brought to the US from Canada, and the gauge cluster was updated to Miles instead of Kilometers. It was also ordered as a fleet buy so I have no idea what it was used for in its prior life.

I have 1068hrs on my '04 at 34k miles. I have had H2 tires (315/70/17) since about 20k miles. So your hours sound about right.

That equates to 36.76mph as an average. Not bad.

I would say that it will all depend on the condition and upkeep of the truck. I think those hours are about right and should make for a long lasting truck. Good luck

Thanks all! Truck looks clean and well cared for, but the vin check revealed only the tailgate straps done at a dealer, so no service history available. Carfax was clean also. Guess I'll take my chances and start negotiating...

when comparing hours to miles, used 50 miles to hour to average out. got this from cat/detroit-diesel and works out to 46,240 miles or about 25% idle time.
