I need to replace my passanger side bearing soon because its already blown out my idler and pitman arms. The steering is scary... with the drivers tire down and the pass side in the air i can push on the tire and get a good 2" or more of movement out of the steering components.
The wheel bearing rocks about 1/2" or so from top to bottom.
I can get a used bearing on ebay for $80 and they say they offer a lifetime warranty on them. Seems a little sketchy to me, but they have tens of thousands in feedback. Everyone seems to like the timkens, which are about $200 or so. What is the opinion on the $108 version that AM autoparts sells? I've bought a set of mirrors from them in the past and they were pretty good.
I was concidering buying a set of all steering components too, including both arms, tie rods, etc for about $150
I plan on throwing on the cognito kit to stabilize everything.
Thoughts?
TIA!!

We have had good luck with the timkens on both the D-max's and that would be my recomendation, considering you will probably get around 100k out of them $400.00 is not bad IMOP... I seen those front end rebuild kits on Ebay for a $100 and change but I would be skeptical of them holding up considering the cost. Generally speaking you get what you pay for....

I just bought 2 Timken front wheel hub assemblies and a pitman/idler support kit from Mike at DMAXSTORE. Great service, good price, no shipping and lifetime warranty on the Timkens.
Just finished installing both Timken hub assemblies, what a difference. I did not know how bad the originals had become.
Thanks again Mike.

While both the bearing and other components may be worn out at the same time, I find it hard to believe that they are related. I've only ever once put a tierod on any of my '99 and newers, and that was the only steering part. I've changed a handful of hub assys, but none of those trucks needed steering linkage work. Two of the hubs were so bad that upon unbolting the axle stub, I could damned near pull the hub assy apart. A couple of them are over the 200k mile mark. And believe you me, we DO NOT baby them.
Just saying................;)

I would think from the added weight of 35" tires and letting them fly around loose, that it would wear out the steering parts a little sooner. I can't imagine the steering would remain just as firm with the added vibration??
