Just wondering which is a better wearing/quieter tire on the highway? just wondering what kind of mileage you guys are getting out of either of these? thanks,

I know nitto's are cheaper, also they are made by the same company.
my nitto's are semi-quiet on the highway, alittle more aggresive than toyo a/t.
I've heard 30-35000 miles on the nitto's, that's with dropping the pressure to level out the tread while unloaded.

Their pretty much the same tire. The tread pattern is almost the same, if not the same. I heard on a another board that they are both made by the same company.

My last two set have been the Toyo and most recently the Nittos. Both sets have worn out at around 25/K. I have a new set of Nittos on some new rims that I will mount soon, because between the two, I prefer them. Wet traction seems better. they have less sidewall roll, plus they look better. I Decided on another set of Nittos because of price, and with the added power I wouldn't expect much more wear out of any tire.

Wet traction seems better on the Nittos? Have you had Michelins or BFG by chance that you can compare to the Toyo. I was just ready to buy a set for the wife's truck and you got me a bit nervous with the wet traction comment....can't take a chance with hers. Michelin M/S make them in the same size I am wanting is why I ask...other than Toyo and GY, no one else does.

Well, I have had BFG's and I can tell you nothing compares. However, I just tried to get BFG's for my truck and they wouldn't even give the dealer I go through a ship date. The dealer asked me what I used the truck for most, highway or offroad. I use it more for highway so he sold me the Toyo Open Country AT's. My brother has a 1/2 ton 4WD Dodge and he has the Nitto's. So far there has been nowhere he goes that I cannot follow. Also, we noticed that the Toyo's are much quieter on the highway. Rain...well due to the width I would say they handle very well, both tires. The only thing I don't know is snow. Anyway, if I had my choice I would say BFG TA/KO's. However, I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.

Thanks 600.
Her's is an SUV so I am not even considering the BFG actually, just trying to compare. The Tahoe had Michelin Cross Terrains and I really liked them...in all situations. I am planning on the 275/60/20 Toyo Open Country for this one...not too wide so I would think it should be nice. Thanks for your input. I'll wait another day or two to see what everyone has to say about them...but the Michelin M/S is a good tire as well and they can still be an option for me.

Are the Toyos much quieter than Nittos or the BFGs - probably both?

Thanks!

I have about 17K miles on mine and they look like they will go to 30 - 35K. I'll probably buy another set or the Toyos (whichever is cheaper) since they are very similar tires. These Nittos are great in the wet.

The Toyos would be a great choice for her SUV. My wife has them on her Blazer, and Mom has them on her Yukon. The Toyos have great wet weather traction (we live in Washington, and know wet weather) and do very well in snowy/icy conditions. My wife has about 35K on her set,and if they don't go at least 75K I'd be very surprised. My friend has Toyos on his 1500 and they are just about finished at 65K. He'll run them thru the Summer and replace them this Fall.

I've had BFGs on numerous rigs and IMO the Toyos are as good as the BFGs,if not better.

I've had BFG's on both of my trucks and wouldn't change a thing. They are the longest lasting AT's that I have seen. As long as you rotate your tires frequently enough, I do mine every 3,000miles, then you will have a long lasting tire.

No tires hold up well to 450+ RWHP. My comment on the Nittos being better in the wet was meant to say they are excellent in that catagory. In fact all conditions have not shown any weaknesses with the Nittos.

I have nittos on my truck and i like everything about them. They have only been on the truck for 3000 miles so i dont know much about how long they will last. Just curious, how much have you guys paid for 285/75/16 nittos balanced and mounted

noreaster

$112 per tire, I think it was something like $10-15 mount on rim & $20 balanced

I have owned the BFG's Nitto's and Toyo's...my pick from the three Toyo..the BFG's are a great wearing tire, but the Nitto and Toyo outperformed them in rain and snow conditions. The Nitto are just about worn out with 25k on them..the Toyos have 27k on them and look alittle worn, but practically brand new as compared to the Nitto's, I will easily see 35-40k out of the Toyo's.

Dipper..I run Toyo's on my wifes Tahoe 285/60-18 and they perform very well in the rain and also the snow..it may help that the Hoe is AWD(stabilitrak), but it is my vehicle of choice when the snow flies.

I got my 285/75/16 on stock rims for $148 as well and they offer excellent traction in the wet and winter conditions. I would probably buy them again. I believe they are just as quiet as BFGs, but the toyos are quieter. The toyos don't have the aggressive look that i like though. My tires have 13500 miles on them and are still in good shape. I should get 30-35k out of them. Definatly satisfied with all nitto products, good quailty, traction and excellent price.

I ran Nitto's, on my last go round, had approx. 28 K on them, very little tread left.
Not again!
Just Switched to BFG's KO's, give them a try, had Goodyears before !!

I do have to say after all this monsoon like weather up here, the Nitto's are quite good in the rain. Important thing though is keep the foot off the floor.

I wouldn't own a set that did not make at least 40k miles. Just throwing money away for only 20-25k of use. If you want a cheap AT that will last at least 40-50k look at the General AT's, Dunlop AT or XVT, or Walmart's Michelin made Liberators. All are snow rated on side of tire.

Why so many people think tires should last 50k miles or longer? They buy a 40k+ truck and cannot spend some money for some tires? I had the Michelin LTX - they lasted a long long time; the rubber got harder and harder and at the end the tread stayed the same basically because the rubber was hard like a rock. I could have driven them forever but I prefer a good road grip and so I got new tires anyway.
Its the same with those soft winter tires - they don't last long because the rubber is soft to improve grip on the road - everything comes with a price.

The Nittos have a soft rubber compount but very good grip and are far better than any BFG in the rain - so why should I drive into the ditch because I saved 100 bucks on rubber with my 40k+ truck - makes no sense to me. Just a thought. :ro)

I run BFG's on all my trucks and just switched over to the Toyo Open countries. I am very impressed with the Toyo's, smoother ride, great in the rain and $160 mounted and balanced and istalled. You should also know that there are two different load ranges on the toyo's Cand d, the D's have a very sturdy sidewall and a nice tread pattern. I would recomend them highly.:ro)

How do the Nittos or Toyos compare w/ the Revos? Ride, traction, looks. Thanks

I am running 285 d rated REVOS now. I like them, but I need two new ones for the rear soon!! I had the regular Bridgestone A/T and they were not very good. The REVO is a much better tire, but costs a lot more. I like the look of my REVO, but everyone around this town has them!! I want something different! All in all....REVO rides nice, balanced nice, wears well, great snow tire, good in the rain too. I like how quiet it is for such a big tire. They offer REVOS in 265x75x16 E rated also. My buddy had them on his Powerstroke and now has them on his new Duramax. He loves them. He has a big 5th wheel and he likes the ride.
