When I bought my truck in needed to get a shell right away, I hope someone makes a shell that follows the contour of the bed. This is what I have.

ARE makes a Z series cap that follows the contour of the box rails, when I get around to buying one, that is going to be my choice. :D

can you post a couple more pics of cap fit. Is it livable fit ? Is it an eyesore looking in the mirror? what cap do you have?

I have to have one one my new 2009.

thanks,Larry

I have the A.R.E. MX series with the full walk in door with a front boot, and no front window, and a bed rug. I had a slider back window installed on the truck and have access to the bed from the truck.

Makes my truck a lot more useful. The back also opens up like a full hatch-back for hauling the big things.

The wife actually likes the truck now. Good grocery go getter.

Is your bed the same as a 2009 with the bulge at fenders? when did it change?

Not sure when it changed. Mines a 2003 LB7. A.R.E. makes tops that fit all years though.

That's a good statement. I have the ARE Z cap and it's on a 2007. Fits like a glove. The 2007 Classic truck has the buldging bed sidewalls too.

The swiss dealer called swiss and they said no one makes a cap that fits right. He said all cp makers sell shells to one another. It sounds like ARE is not sharing that shell to others for them to build on. How about some prices and any of the options you may have ordered

thanks

You may be close to A.R.E. in Massillon, Ohio.

The Full rear door option is expensive but worth it (around $800 if I remember correctly). I think my total was around $2500.

Its not to much of an eyesore but its always in the back of my mind . The shell is a Leer and I think I payed $1100 or so. I couldn't find anything at the time, so I can live with it..

ARE is the best if you're going to have it on all the time.

I had a Leer cap but don't have one on my current truck as I'm lucky enough to need one and their all darn ugly...

My 01 has bulging rails too. Ive got a cap that came with the truck when I bought it. Not sure of the brand but it fits good. I can live with the cap being straight and the fenders curved. Doesn't bother me at all. And the cap makes the truck look wayyy bigger then without.
