GM will be stopping Duramax production from mid December 2009 until April 2010 to retool the Morain, OH assembly plant. I don't remember there being such a long delay between switching engine models before.

But then again there wasn't such a huge leap in the complexity of the emissions controls as will happen next year.

I am wondering if there are more changes slated then that of the LML.
Does it really take 4 month to re-tool, or is something else going on?

Probably has something to do with the new chassis as well.

Since GM is stopping production at the Duramax plant, not the plants that build the frames, or the plants that assemble the HD trucks, that indicates to me that this is a Duramax-specific shutdown. They will keep building HD trucks during this time using stockpiled DMax engines, and gas engines. Of course the frames are the same (maybe a different bracket or something very minor like that, but otherwise identical).

URGENT REQUEST to DP members!
Does anyone on here know anyone who is in the Baxter, MN area and makes trips to Minneapolis?
In the next week or so, I need to hitch a one-way ride to Baxter, MN from Minneapolis (or Milwaukee, or Chicago, or St. Louis!) to pick up my new 2010 GMC!

I am sure that it could not be that the government is now is charge of GM that is causing the long delay. Anything that the government gets involved in usually takes about twice as long as private industry. PLUS, the government always manages to ****** up anything that they get their hands on. Kind of glad I already own a Duramax, I am not sure that I would want of the new government models...
