hello all i got an 02 duramax, and looking to get either a 2nd or 3rd generation duramax. im doing some research this time cause my injectors went bad in mine this past winter under warranty. they met the specifications for the warrany but GM still wouldnt pay for them. its a stock motor no upgrades. Can anyone give me any info, problems ect. for the 2nd or 3rd generation motors. im pretty disgusted with GM dont even kno ill get a GM product but im wieghin all options right now any info would help!! thanks matt

My 06 LBZ has been flawless. 46k miles. What a great engine and truck.

Anything '04.5 and above is gonna be LLY, LBZ or newer. You can't go wrong. If you can afford an LBZ, that's the way to go, but my LLY is a beast and it's drop dead reliable. Nothing like the injector problems they had with the LB7... good luck!

After that debacle why would you ever even consider another GM? If you just have to have a GM I would do the LBZ. Seems most problems have been ironed out.

You can't go wrong with the LBZ. All the problems of the dmax were resolved, and you don't have to deal with the emissions stuff on the newer models. That's BS that GM won't cover the injectors, and I wouldn't blame you for not buying another, but it might not be worth it to pass up such a great engine as the LBZ just to stick it to GM.
