Guys, looking at getting a truck for sled pulling. Found one that hit a deer. I ran the VIN and the inj were done at 188k. The tranny was rebuilt in the last 50k miles. And the transfer case was redone due to the pump rub issue. What do you guys think this is worth? Needs new radiator as it got pushed into the fan besides front grill, lights, transmission cooler, mount, etc... It has 214k miles now and is an '02.

Thanks

I would keep the deer and bury the truck.

3k

Won't the engine bring $3000, trans $1000, transfer $800, bed/tailgate $500, wheels $400? That's $5700 if a guy parted it out. Am I missing something?

You have to consider the time and work it would take to part it out... I'd think 3-5k...

Thanks for the replies guys. So you guys are thinking 3-5k. That would be great. I know this guy won't go that low becuase he paid more than that at a dealer auction for this truck. So where are you guys finding trucks with similar damage for 3-5k? I've been looking on craigslist and autorader, cars.com and the for sale section of websites like this one. Is there a web site that lists rebuildable trucks? I can't find any running duramax for under $6500 and those typically need injectors. Any help would be great.

Well I got mine with perfect body, only minor interior wear, needing front suspension and fuel system work for $6000. So I wouldn't even think about spending that for a wrecked truck.

What all did the suspension and fuel system need?

Front end rebuild (wheel bearings and ball joints). I didn't know about fuel system issues when I got it, but it ended up needing a CP3. I ended up with a great truck for about $11k (after a set of tires also).

$3-5K would be about right to me. Body parts and radiator can be had at boneyards. Man...that truck would make a great drag racer.

Yeah, I like the look of the regular cabs. Not very practical for what I use a truck for, but would be great for a puller or racer.

So what do you guys think that truck would be worth if/when it was fixed?

Basically you would have an '02 214k miles reg cab 4x4. cloth interior with vinyl floor, 4x4 floor shifter.

I'm surprised at the prices of used Duramax crew cabs. Really holding up in this economy. Maybe cause less new ones are being made?

Racer yes...puller no. Id find a CCLB or CCSB for a puller. Longer wheelbase is a plus.

But no way am I able to buy another truck for a fun vehicle right now. Wish I could.

i just picked up the 03 in my garage for 9500 and it has lots of toys. some great deals to be found right now. i would say that 3k is a safe price on that truck if everything is straight forward.
