Depends how bad it is. I use soft-scrub on a wet microfiber cloth.

Rubbing compound and a buffer always works.

I wouldn't use rubbing compound, some of it is too gritty.

Try 3M finess-it, and a buffer with a wool pad on it. It's what we use at the car factory I work at. The last bottle I bought was about $ 23.00. I have fixed a lot of scratches, dirt in the paint, and chips with this and some 2000 grit sand paper.

I've had good luck with Scratch Off, followed by swirl remover and wax. Meguires also makes a scratch remover. If your scratch is through the clear coat, not much will help.

I've used some different stuff in the past. Best stuff I used wasn't really a scratch remover, but a filler if you will. Consisted of like 1 coat of filler, 2 coats of some other polish, and a clear coat. Makes all my scratches almost NOT there. last for about 3-6 months when done right. I dont remember the brands, got them from my uncle when he had a detailing business in OC.

Billy Mays (RIP) hawks the Simonize Fix-it stick on TV. I see it about 15 times a day...ha.
Never tried it though?

If the scratch isn't to deep you can make them dissapear with some touch up paint followed by rubbing off the excess with lanka. Buy the lanka just to keep around for touch ups if nothing else. http://www.langka.com/paint_chip_repair.php
