I couldn't find any info on this, so I thought I'd ask.

I have a 2003 5 speed, but I have heard a few people say that the 2005 (LLY) 5 speed is much "smarter". It looks like EFILive will let me flash a 2005 transmission operating system & calibration to my 2003 TCM.

I was planning on using a stock 2005 tune from the library (here (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/local_links.php?action=ratelink&linkid=48&catid=9&lpage=1)).

Will I hurt anything? Has anyone done this? If so, was the transmission any "smarter?"

Thanks,
David

Anyone? I'm sure Mike L. has done something like this...

Will it hurt anything to flash the 2005 O/S on? Or even any leads to point me in the right direction would be awesome too!

You will throw codes if you do as the 05 OS will be looking for the G solonoid that the LB7's don't have. There may be a flash out there somewhere floating around to let you do it, but a stock 05 OS will code.

Thanks for the info! I actually saw something about a G solenoid in my stock tune.
{D0562} & {D0563} Looks like it is disabled though (both set to -8192).

If I were to disable the G solenoid in the '05 OS, would it work? Or would it basically act the same as my '03 OS once I did that?

I was kind of curious how it was "smarter," but I should probably leave my tranny alone... It is holding a decent size tune just fine and I like how it shifts. All the threads about limping trannys are starting to scare me. Mine has 230,000 with an Edge and now EFI on it, and the more I read, the more I worry that I might limp it. And everyone saying once you limp it it only gets easier doesn't help any...
