If your glow plugs are not getting hot enough to burn all the fuel, it would just push the unburnt fuel out the exhaust causing the smoke. Get the code number and post it on here or do a search, either way you will find the answer on here.

This is posted in the LLY section-- is the 8th digit of the VIN a "2"-?

Do you have diesel fuel smell when you check the dip stick-? The reason I ask is if you have a LB7, (VIN "1") you could have leaky injectors and fuel in your oil, which would make it smoke.

The glow plugs only help start when the engine is cold- then shut off until started again.

Be sure to check the air filter- also inter-cooler boots close to the power steering pump- a loose boot will make it smoke and have low power.

Please post the codes-- AutoZone and other parts stores will read them for cheap- called free!:D
